Casting the DC Universe

I wouldn't have minded The Rock as Black Adam, he clearly wanted it..

But the Shazam film is DEAD now, so there's no point.

I only mentioned him in regards to Darkseid, given the movement on the Superman film project.

So even though he could have been an excellent hal jordan you dont want to see it solely because he voiced the cartoon once. That sounds ridiculous.

No i dont wanna see it mostly because there are alot of other people i would like to see play hal b4 i would want to see dave play him. i dont think he would be as good as a few other people. the other reason is im tired of everbody thinkin a voice actor would also be for a live action movie. even though people were sayin that before he was ever in new frontier, it makes me think that as soon as that happens even more people would start wanting the voice actors to play them in a live action film. i know that'll never happen but it just doesnt seem right to me. but that's all in my head, but i would rather see someone else play him first.

The Rock should be Black Adam! Yes he can be slightly hammy but I can't picture a Captain marvel movie that isn't a little hammy. It's part of the fun of the character.

Jeremy Davies as The Question

i would be down with him for question. Like his character on lost.

As for rock as darkseid, would be an interesting choice their, he has the size and with the right costume/makeup would look sick ass. Though i bet a first new film wouldnt feature darkseid. They would probably go with a more safe choice like metallo/doomsday along with lex type of deal.

dont think I posted this here

GL Hal Jordan- Ryan Reynolds (Great)
Gl John Stewart- Jamie Foxx (Not Bad, but works)
GL Guy Gardner- Jeremy Renner (Pretty Good)
Gl Kyle Rayner- Niall Matter (Probably too old for Kyle, but works if Kyle appeared now)
GL Alan Scott- Scott Bakula (Not so sure about Scott as a superhero. He was barely convincing as a starship captain)
Coral Ferris- Rebecca Hall (Hate this one. She doesnt have the looks for Carol)
Cowgirl- Amy Smart (Not bad, weird seeing Amy Smart and RR together again)
GL Katma Tui- Bridget Moynahan (Pretty Good)
GL Arisia- Jennifer Morrison (Not bad, though it seems like a waste of JM on such a small role)
Fatality- Rhona Mitra (Pretty Good)
Sinestro- Hugo Weaving (Great)

I like most of them!

(But you forgot Tomar-Re)

please help me see y u chose this cast. no disrespect, but i really didnt like alot of the people on. some of the people u chose other people like but i dont see y.

GL Hal Jordan- Ryan Reynolds
Hes already chosen

Gl John Stewart- Jamie Foxx
Seen him play bull-headed military men before and he can bring much needed personality to what is widely considered a boring character

GL Guy Gardner- Jeremy Renner
I think Renner looks a lot like Guy and pulls off the arrogant thrillseeker/reluctant hero to a "T." Easily my favorite casting on the entire list.

Gl Kyle Rayner- Niall Matter
He's got a good look and voice for Kyle. Pretty entertaining on Eureka.

GL Alan Scott- Scott Bakula
He has a strong confidence in a paternal way, not too overbearing.

Carol Ferris- Rebecca Hall
Beautiful and really great up and coming actress who deserves her time in the spotlight.

Cowgirl- Amy Smart
She's funny and badass and cute

Fatality- Rhona Mitra
Aggressive action babe, but I think she has limited range. She's not useless as an actress but I feel she would bring more to this character than say Catwoman or Wonder Woman or Electra.

Sinestro- Hugo Weaving
Weaving does great with evil characters. Despite looking like Sinestro (which is kinda stupid looking at times) yhe can really be intimidating.

Hammond- David Thewlis
Can play creepy and possessive

Hank Henshaw- John Hamm
Some of his characters seem like real pricks, plus he looks a lot like Superman

Alex Nero- Eric Mabius (placeholder, not that attached)
Not attached to this choice at all

Kanjar Ro- Kevin J O'Connor
Prior to actually seeing him in comics I was only aware of the weaselly character in Justice League cartoon, and Kev has made a career playing those characters.

Kilowag- Michael Clark Duncan
He's giant for one. He's also capable of being well-like and real intimidating, both are necessary for Kilowag IMO

Ganthet- Ian Holm
He's already short and kinda got a big head. He always sounds intelligent and Shakespearean (a la LOTR and 5th Element). Something I think the guardians would sound.

GL Sodam Yat- Matthew Marsden
Really enjoyed his character in Rambo, and I think he looks a lot like the role.

GL Vath Sarn- Karl Urban
Military type with a strong resemblance.

Green Arrow- Bradley Cooper
Because Denis Leary is unfortunately a pipe dream, theres no doubt in my mind Cooper could portray the womanizing, arrogant alpha male Arrow, and the pairing of Cooper and Reynolds sounds awesome

Scar- Linda Hunt
Academy award winner I believe. The perfect voice for a omenous, scary character, especially if the character also is a short woman.

Tom Kalmaku- Adam Beach
Really likeable, consistent supporting role actor.

The others are just a mix of gut reactions, resemblance, and my own opinion of their acting ability in general.

There was a rumor on yahoo the other day that Derek Luke was being considered for John Stewart. I don't remember the link, but it caught my eye for a second.

Younger than Reynolds. I find that to be good enough

Well think about it; Kyle isn't in the first film.

Even on the unlikely chance he'll be in the sequel (the sequel at it's earliest would come out in 2014); your Kyle choice would be approaching his mid 30s by then.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Kyle super young when he first took up the mantle of GL in Hal's absense? Like 20 or so? Around the age of the second generation sidekicks.. He was pretty much a kid.

Still not a problem for me. Age just doesnt bother me. I find it more imperative that Kyle is a little naive and a less of an extrinsic personality in comparison to Hal

ok, thanks cerealkiller. i know it probably took u a good while to type all that up. my main problem is with bradley cooper as green arrow. you make a good point with him, but i still dont like that one. mostly because when i see GA i see a more serious character that cracks smart ass jokes every now and then. more of a layed back version of bruce. i dont know that thats the way he's suposed to be its just the way i think of him. whe i look at cooper i just see a clown and i know he's had a few serious roles, but i just cant help but look at him and seein a clown. and that's the same way i feel about ryan reynolds. i wasnt really down with jamie foxx either but the point u made makes alot of sense and now i can actually see him playin john. thanks for clearin that up.

I am completely baffled by the fact that you recognize that both Reynolds and Cooper have successfully done dramatic work as well as dramatic work within comedies, but can't see past the comedy parts. Seems strange

they really dont play them as convincingly as they do in the comedies they've done. its just all i can see when i look at them in anything no matter how serious they are i just cant help but think whatever they're doing is funny.

kinda what i do with any actor from a comic movie, defiance, whole time i saw sabes instead of shreiber

Im not denying strengths, but their capabilities are more than just comedy.

i know that, i just cant help but see them that way. there are others that could do a better job IMO

James Roady as Booster Gold:

I actually don't think he would work completely, as Booster Gold. But I just thought it would be fun to try it out.

Other actors who could play Booster, or could have at one point in their career:

Greg Kinnear could have been a decent Booster at one time, but now he is too old for the part
gregkinnearboostergold.jpg

Michael Weatherly might, or not. His part on NCIS is sort of comedic

Simon Baker,

Nathan Fillion, he can do comedy and play an egomaniac hero.

Just throwing some names out there
