Cat licking Wolverine's claws

Better yet how come the cat didn't cut his? tongue. Those blades surpose to be sharp

i may be reading too much into this, but maybe it s to show how finely-tuned Logan's senses are, ready to strike? that and one of the few times goofy humor can make it into a serious sci-fi/action movie like this.

Don't take it too seriously.

I thought it was cute.

Did you notice that Logan Calmed right down after seeing the cat...he let the cat licks his claws as it was a show off the fact that he is one of them...an animal.

Those claws have stabbed through alot of people. And the cat licked them.
Blech.bmp

Poor kitty.

That part was inconsistant. Logan should have smelled that it was a cat.

I think it was more the fact that a harmless cat wasn't scared at all by the big bad clawed killing machine.

and also, the way the cat hiss' after he retracts his claws, I'm pretty sure is meant to imply wolvie sliced its tounge open. to a degree... not split in two... just a lil nick :p

comic

relief

Joke explanation: Logan is alerted by something nearby. HE reacts fast and unleashes his claws at it like a... wait for it... CAT.

That cat scene just seems to be some cutesy humor to relieve the audience a little bit after all the dark happenings that preceeded it. The problem was it was too cutesy and should have been saved for a blooper reel or joke scene on the DVD and not included in the movie. If they wanted a joke, they could have done something more character based. Logan claiming to be an art teacher is a good example. There always seems to be a danger in sequels when the characters become more familar, the filmakers want to inject silly jokes that really do nothing but dilute the film. Look at all the silly jokes in Temple of Doom as opposed to Raiders of the Lost Ark and even more silliness in Last Crusade. It's like pouring water in your beer. You would have never had a cat scene like that in X1.

actually I think Stupid is a better word than inconsistent for this case. Wolverine reacting like that to a Kitty only shows how DULL his senses are. Heck even I know when my cat comes into a room.

Just a small little gag. Personally i thought it was cute

You guys make threads about practically anything, this is so stupid.

Like that's a funny topic...:)...maybe Logan just has a way with cats...who knows?

That's how I interpreted it as well.

The great thing about x2 is that it did so much right, it could afford to have a funny scene thrown in, and it wasnt at the expense of the characters.

Yeah, these little things did help relieve the tension and show us another side of the characters besides fighting evil and trying to stop evil. Professor Logan the Art teacher was awsome, and definitely in character.

Sadly, in X3 I think the whole film took on such a tone of helplessness and utter doom, and you knew that everything was going to hell anyways, that none of the humor or cute scenes mattered anymore.

The fact that he opened the fridge at Iceman's house and smelled the nearest beer bottle was enough cutesy humor for me :)

Logan, like his animal alter-ego, has certain, basic animal instincts. Like the need for beer. I mean come on, the man just fought off an invasion at the mansion. He wanted a beer! That soda he had while talkingto Bobby just wasn't as satisfying :)

Watching him standing there in a wifebeater shirt telling the family he's an art teacher was priceless. And the tone of the movie was just right at that point, relaxed enough that humar like this worked.

you know what I actually liked that scene, the way I put it might have made it sound like i hated it... lol I certainly liked it more than the cat licking scene. Oh and by the way about the need for beer, I think everyone can relate to that!

I don't think i'd wanna see him sniff the cat's rear end... if u get my meaning. EW. bad.

In the audio commentry, Bryan say's that he was obsessed with having that cat in the movie and it licking stuff...
