The Dark Knight Rises Catwoman Costume

BATGIRL_AND_CATWOMAN_by_josephcaesarsd.jpg

Clearly the best choice.

Wow that's really amazing.

The only thing I would say about Catwoman is maybe have her mask extend around her eyes (like Batman Returns), so she can take the goggles on and off, yet still conceal her identity.

^ Agreed. Though i dont think she should have the goggles on all the time. Only when it is neccessary.

Based on all these designs, I just don't see how Catwoman would ever work in Nolan's universe.

I mean, sure...you can give her a "gritty" and more "realistic" look, but how do you justify her presence? What is her purpose or origin? You can get away with the "no origin" thing with the Joker because he didn't have the abilities of Batman, but Catwoman will rival Batman in terms of technology based on what these designs suggest (particular the one at the top of this page).

I just don't see it working.

I don't understand when people say that about Catwoman.

She's basically a female Batman, a woman in a mask. She's no less "unrealistic" than a guy in a mask. Her costume doesn't necessarily have to be heavily armored like Batman's, but a woman who steals from the mob would definitely need some sort of body armor.

She can easily work in Nolan's universe.

Agreed. She should use specialty goggles for surveillance purposes like in TLH and then not wear them during combat or when sweet talking Batman.

exactly. This may sound a little self centered and low, but I like my design best. I mean, i love everyone elses design, but i feel its too much like Batman and its too much for Catwoman. My design has the right balance of sleekness and protection IMO(A little more wouldnt hurt though.)

The illustration looks great for a comic book, but maybe a real-life translation might come off as bulky as Batman, so I agree with you there, batboy.

But, like you said, I think your suits need a little something more armor wise. Also, I don't like the hair flowing out the back of the headpiece.

Oh thats just for Eliza. Ive tried to cover up the hair, but it doesnt suit her, so i left it out. Marion looks fine with her hair covered, but not with that pic.

I like her hair out though, but it probably wouldnt work, but again, thats just for Eliza.

Catwoman's sort of easy at the first past.

Cat-burglar who pillages the Gotham's wealthy. Starts out as an ordinary criminal. Then, she burgles the Wayne penthouse and uncovers a **** load of tech that she steals away to make into her Catwoman costume, after something tragic happens to propell her that way.

I don't know.

Where are some of those great manips from elgato and jmc or batboy? Those designs are the closest to what I'd want to see as Catwoman (armor may be a bit bulky though).

Ask and you shall receive. First design, probably a bit balky in retrospect, got the idea from watching a documentary on a heist, but the idea I'm still happy with.

Second design, similar to first, slimmed down a bit more, redesigned the mark.

Third design, similar in design again, slimmed down, integrated tools into the suit itself, redesigned the mask once again.

I like the first one, but as you said, it should probably not be that bulky. But, simple removal of the tools on her arm and items on her belt (as well as making her backpack a little smaller) should solve the problem.

I absolutely love the second image. Catwoman and Batman standing beside each other on a rooftop at night. This is what Nolan's films need: Catwoman. I only wish that I could see more of this costume design.

only one of them is catwoman?

I keep trying to reply but nothing happens. This board is broken.
You don't need an origin for Catwoman, she is just an eccentric cat burglar, she should come from nowhere, she is better without an origin story (as is Batman); it's called mystery.

I want the goggles to create the cat eyes and for the head gear to be simple like the second picture I posted.

I don't like the idea of armor because that would pretty much make her a female Batman. I want a thief Catwoman who plays by her own rules, not a battle ready catwoman. These drawings and manips are great though!

Um, isn't there where you sit down and make one up? Just because you don't see it right away it doesn't mean it can't be done. A thrill seeking, athletic woman with a troubled past finds self-satisfaction and self-reliance in burglary and subterfuge. Then she looks to Batman and like the vigilantes in TDK feels empowered and purposeful when protecting those who don't merit attention from society, the dregs of the Narrows. Basically what if one of those vigilantes from TDK was a woman, and just happened to be very good at what she does? That's where you begin. It has to happen eventually, another Batman-level operator popping up. But instead of being purely altruistic like Bruce or Brian, she's merely selfish. and greed and self-preservation are very easy concepts to grasp. Furthermore she'd be relatable and human because unlike Batman she doesn't adhere to some strict and possibly naive black and white code. She's like the rest of us, fallible, seeing the shades of grey, seeing the irony in what she does and rejoicing in it even, which is why she'd wear an outlandish costume. She wears a costume for the same reason people wear costumes in the bedroom. She'd bring fun and self-awareness to the movie, something the franchise desperately needs at this stage. Especially now that the Joker is gone. He bought light and smiles to TDK and Catwoman can do it for B3.

I really don't see the trouble with Catwoman, either. The world "unrealistic" gets tossed around, and I don't understand that.

Really, she's no more "unrealistic" than the Joker. A very athletic woman who is also a burglar. That's not very hard to bring to the screen.

This is where my only gripe with the new franchise lies. This whole "Well, this villain is too unrealistic, so we're not doing them". That shuts out some great villains.

Anyway, back on topic. Catwoman can be done. If the filmmakers really found her to be "unrealistic", then they can make her fit their mold.

What if her design was a hybrid of Jim Lee's and Tim Sale's?

Skintight with goggles, but instead of leather/vinyl, make it kevlar with a velvet exterior, similar to Batman's cape in the films.

Oh, and the real problem I'm noticing here is that all of our suggestions for who to play Catwoman are just hot chicks. If someone is going to play Selina Kyle, you're basically talking about the female version of Christian Bale. She has to be attractive, but also an intense badass as she is in the comics. Muscles...
