Chapter 18 - "Like Any Parasite" - Clip(s) & Discussion

The Uluru painting can be easily explained now that we have an illusionist on board btw...
Oooh, that's a good point. Even Isaac's "death" can be explained, if Candice is there to protect him.

So we know Peter can heal now, yet he's also supposed to get a scar from Sylar's attack. Yet he or Claire have zero scars from any of their injuries. What gives?

Maybe in future Hiro's timeline he didn't save the cheerleader and something else happened that stopped Sylar from fully cutting his head open leaving him with a scar. Don't think thats it though. Just a thought.

What about the one he did paint? I very curious to see how they'll present this eventuality. It looks like the man is wearing glasses.

People seem to be forgetting that just because Isaac CAN paint the future, doesn't mean he can ONLY paint the future. He seems to be perfectly capable of painting a normal picture that doesn't come true, as long as he doens't go all white-eyed.

I read on another board that Sylar has the ability to become immune to drugs/poison, which is why he was able to stop the IV drip and how he was able to use his powers after he was by the company.

Is this true?

ooohhh....quite possibly.

Too bad too...looks like the Company turned her over to the dark side :(

Man, I hope HRG gets outta this alive (not to mention the wife and son...)

I don't think she completely turns. From what this thread says. I think she rejoins Claude or reveals that she's been working from the inside in favor of Claude. The scene with her busting HRG makes me think she did it because she still holds a grudge against the guy for trying to kill off Claude.

he used telekinesis to turn the valve on the IV drip. he demonstrated it to Mohinder. and he was certainly drugged by the tea Mohinder gave him, so i would say, no.

Anyone else think Candice is the one Claude tried to hide ?
there have been no apparent connections between Claude and Candice, as I see it, Claude was hiding one or both Pittrelli kids

well they've revealed the next heroe's name and location, see the activating evolution thread...:yay:

Of course he doesn't paint strictly the future (although Isaac does say, "Look around, all these came true!"), but I think it's safe to assume there's something significant about Uluru that is yet to be revealed.

What can you tell us about the Uluru creature that has been subtly referred to in the series and seen in one of the graphic novels?

And as for Uluru – we know that it is the native name for Ayers Rock in Australlia. Maybe people should look into the mythology of Uluru and then ask the question again.
Rocky did some looking into the Uluru legends after last week's Q&A and came up with some interesting stuff. "Most legends of Uluru involve a battle that occurs on or near the area that Ayers Rock is located. Could these battles be linked to the powers? A spiritual connection to former Gods? A extra-terrestrial presence granting powers dating back to the origin of civilization? I know you can't say, but is this along the right lines?"

First of all, it's so cool that you did the research. Rocky, I bet you were a good student. And we love your theories. There's a little something from each of them. Spritual. Battles. Civilization. If you look a little further into Australlian mythology, you'll find one part that you're missing.

Brian Hayashi added, "Might Uluru simply be a manifestation of Mother Earth? It might look like a dinosaur, come to life at the grief of the war between normal people and heroes."

We liked that one too – and in some ways – you're right Brian. And in other ways, not so right. There's a part of the Uluru mythology that no one has tapped into – not yet.

Brian Summer once again had an interesting thought about Peter's powers, and which one came first. "I've often thought the first ability that Peter picked up was the ability to communicate in dreamtime, a rather common ability of Australian aborigines. This would explain why his lucid dreams, like his brother flying, started about the same time he started taking care of Mr. Roundtree (AKA Charles Deveaux), who many have suspected had abilities of his own." Interesting theory there, Brian, with an interesting thought about Charles Deveaux's own abilities. Guys, will we be learning more about Peter's "first time" before season's end?

Yes. And Brian, did we tell you how much we love you. You are paying close attention to all the clues. All of you Uluru theorists should listen to Brian. And Brian… if we find that you've put listening devices in our office, we will revoke our love.
In several caves in Uluru, rock represents many stories of the Dreamtime. The paintings are regularly renewed, with layer upon layer of paint, dating back many thousands of years. http://www.crystalinks.com/dreamtime.html
found this on activatingevolution.org:

Uluru
From Activating Evolution

Largest rock in the world, worships by the Aborigine.

According to most recent data, may be an evolved human of massive proportions.

i got there this way: theories -> special pages (under toolbox) -> dead end pages. lots of stuff there. take it for what it's worth...looks like a lot of people goofing around.

we must look further into this

there have been no apparent connections between Claude and Candice, as I see it, Claude was hiding one or both Pittrelli kids

Even though I think he was hiding either one or both of the Petrelli kids, from the graphic novel the impression was that he had been hiding Meredith.

I loved the Peter and Nathan moment when Peter found out his brother is not as much of an ass as he thought.

Sylar is the gift that keeps on giving. "I wasn't begging for my life... I was offering you yours" Genius!!!

Then they end it on a cliffhanger note and we have to wait weeks to see what happens. Even though from the little preview it looks like Sylar is going to torture Peter a bit before he kills him.

I know I cant wait!!!

Around Mount Uluru there are many examples of ancestral sites. The Anangu explanations of these sites and of the formation of Mount Uluru itself derive from the Tjukurpa. Most of these explanations are in the realm of secret information and are not disclosed to Piranypa, the non-Aborigines.

'The Dreaming' is not a creation myth, per se, but a myth of formation. The world existed, but was featureless. Giant semi-human beings, resembling plants or animals, rose up from the plains where they had been slumbering for countless ages.

These ancient heroes roamed the land aimlessly. As they wandered around, they carried out the tasks that the present Aborigines do today including camping, making fires, digging for water, fighting each other, and performing ceremonies. When the heroes became tired of doing these things, Dreamtime came to an end.

Wherever the creators had been active, some form of natural feature now marks the place. The creators made everything with which the aborigines are in daily contact and from which they gain their living. The heroes also established laws that govern all aspects, both secular and sacred, of the tribes.

I can not wait to see Peter fight back with Sylar. There are so many ways for Peter to kick Sylars ass now.

 Sylar cut his bangs, he didn't shave his head. Besides, hair is dead tissue, it isn't alive to regrow. I wouldn't be surprised if the bangs hitting the floor was a nod to all the fans that have complained about Milo's haircut.
Ausiello: One personal favor I have: Can you please cut Milo's bangs?
Kring: [Laughs] He would like that, too.

Ausiello: Do you like them?
Kring: They work for a lot of us. It has a kind of comic-book quality, when he's looking through his hair like that. It's certainly a signature [characteristic] that people are talking about, and I don't know whether that's such a bad thing. But we do have some plans for changing the way he looks in the near future.

Ausiello: Like the next episode, perhaps?
Kring: No, not the next episode. We're sort of locked into a chronology here for a while. As soon as we're able to jump off of that, he'll have a change of look. It's going to be the end of the season.

Hallelujah!

but i can definetly remember blood, a pitty peter has all those powers, it's gonna be one hell of a superhero fight

The only thing that I think of that can help Peter is his Stopping Time power. He can't fly (since he's indoors), he can't turn invisible (since Sylar will still be able to hear him) what else does he have? One problem Peter might have at first (other than Sylar trying to cut his head open) is getting use to all the noise (once he acquires his super hearing). Anyone have any guesses (if you do know what happens, don't spoil it for us)?

Mohinder didn't looked dead, at least on that last episode. He was stuck to the ceiling, but still alive.

Once I saw Mo there, my first impression was that was dead. Still, it's good to see that he isn't.

Interesting...I think you could be right...Claude was protecting Her or the Petrellis
