well, i hope in the new movie, we can know more about each of the characters.

for clark kent, I would like to know about his hobby, his flavorite food, the food that make him nauseous. his flavorite gesture.

for jimmy olsen, i hope they'll give him more 'details' than just a photographer.

for lois lane, i would like to see more on her charm and personality that make clark fall for her.

metropolis, the daily life of metropolis, the residents. perhaps how harsh, emotionless they are. and the horrible subway system. make it relatable. not just an elsewhere tales.

I agree that the city itself should be characterised, but what you described sounds more like Gotham. Metropolis is a little lighter than that.

I also think it's very important to get the 'essential' traits of each character right.

For instance, the things that were missing from SR e.g.

Clark Kent = optimistic/positive... the moment you start portraying Superman as this brooding dark figure, you've lost the character IMO.

Lois Lane = unpredicatable, unreasonable and full of fire... not depressed, wet and kind of a push over.

because i thought metropolis as new york. have u been in new york? the new yorkers are harsh and emotionless. never care about what happen along the street and always burst out in the subway train. :P

i hope superman can bring life and 'sunshine' into metropolis. :D

if it is an origin story, i hope to see clark kent having culture shock when first came to metropolis, and lois lane showed him the rope to get adapt in. and in the process, clark fell for her.

What do you guys think of the idea of making lex and supes friends at first, and then later on, maybe in a sequel, lex betrays supes in a major way, and while we sensed that lex maybe wasn't such a great guy, he really turns into a bastard.

I like the idea of Luthor being a good guy at first. Him and Superman working together would be something new and refreshing to see. And then by the end of the movie, he goes bald or gets injured badly. That would be nice to see.

Sorry but I don't see Metropolis as New York. Spiderman is in New York, and the two towns are very different in my eyes.

Personally, i've had enough of that from Smallville. After 10 years of it, I feel like I want the old Lex back. The one I remember from watching Lois and Clark. The one who was just a nasty peice of work, who enjoyed exploiting people to keep his power. Intelligent, charming and competetive.

They've already done that on Smallville.

then people would complain it's a ripoff of spidey movie.

let stick lex as corporate evil.

The idea doesn't necessarily mean he isn't Lexcorp Lex. I had a similar idea. It's basically moving the Superboy story to Metropolis, with Clark as Superman instead of Superboy and Lex as a businessman rather than a teen scientist.

^Yes. Lex in my idea would be both a renowned scientist and a businessman with LexCorp and all. But he would be a good guy at first or at best, a very egocentric one. Not exactly evil, per se.

No offense intended but I've lived in NYC and not all of the people are like that.

Yeah, and Lex and Superman could work together, with Superman possibly helping Lex with some of his projects and Lex maybe helping Superman understand more about his origins and physiology, which could possibly give Lex enough insight into Superman's strengths and weaknesses so that when he turns evil, he can use that knowledge against Superman.

I thought he was interesting in Red Son. He wasn't all out evil, but he wasn't really a good person too. Pretty much had a big ego and wanted to show how much normal people could achieve.

I'd still prefer the straight up evil Lex.

I want a confident Clark who doesn't come off as an idiot or needs words of encouragement from people telling him who he is.

I just don't want to find Lois annoying, which can easily happen in the wrong hands.

Basically how they portrayed the characters in TAS

I view this film as a the coming of age of Superman. Develop Clark and Superman and maybe the Supervillain. No need to get into Jimmy, Perry, Clark's diet, the subway system, or the mindset of the people of Metropolis lol. Introduce Lois if she only has a small role and prep her character for the sequel. Focus on what is important to tell the story of how Superman came to be. No need to breathe life into every character around Superman.

surely a compelling story comes first.
however it would make the characters / city more alive if more personalities shown.

why? that's nonsensical stuff...

i just want that they are not cheesy and campy... i don't want to see a clark that is a moron and trips and is a spaz or a joke... just that he looks bad in a suit, pudgy, slouches, and is just a regular guy you wouldn't pay much attention too, not some guy that is going out of his way to appear wimpy... just that he is average... kind of forgettable... and if you work with a total moron you'd realize that they are not forgettable but they actually stand out more... just someone who is quiet, doesn't say much, is just a regular soft spoken guy that isn't seen very much when he doesn't have to be... just works, doesnt talk much or even tries to talk that much to lois even though he likes her because he doesnt want the attention.... a moron trying to not get attention gets more attention tripping and falling like he is charles chaplin than a regular quiet normal guy does who just stays out of the way....

lois i'd like her to be outgoing and tough but not cartoon and campy tough like she is trying to show off that she is tough... for example, that she is GROUNDED IN REALITY, not comic book tough, not cartoon tough, not movie tough, just like any regular woman who we know is tough, like a regular person, like a neighbor or friend of yours that is tough.. not climbing on a desk and talking about inspirational stuff, just regular people tough...

if you say so my friend. For me, I don't really care what Clark's favorite food is, why Lex's hair fell out, why Lois is a journalist instead of a kindergarten teacher or a hair stylist. Clark's favorite cereal is Lucky Charms!

actually i dont want to know why lex's hair fell out, i think its stupid to give a reason as to why hair falls... hair falls because of genetics, diet, etc.... my grandfather was 95 when he passed and had a great full head of hair and my dad is 65 and has a full head of hair but my uncle is 38 and is balding... why give an explanation?

I'd like to see the characters in a different way... not a lex that is 100% evil just because he likes to make people suffer, i want to see characters that seem human... a bad guy doesnt just talk all day about "the plan" and is just constantly on the go... ted bundy wasnt, ed gein wasn't, and those are some nuts... i want everyone to seem human and normal for what they are... i want a lex that is a "normal" bad guy but can turn it on like hannibal lector in silence of the lambs but is capable of having normal conversations and normal human expression and be likable also

yeah I'm not interested in tiny minor character details...character development sure, but tiny, minuscule details...not thanks
