Child 44

Just started the 3rd book of this series, I hope this is successful so we can get all 3 adapted, though so far the first book has been the best.

Just finished the book. Holy ef. If the movie is at least half faithful to the book then its going to be incredible. Great great great book

Just finished the 3rd and final (I think) book a few days ago, it was probably the 2nd best one in the series, if all 3 of these get made, and made faithfully, we could have a great trilogy on our hands.

Has there been any confirmation on who Kinnaman, Oldman, and Cassel are playing?

Reportedly Oldman is the chief of police (General Nesterov I think he was called?) and Kinnaman is a rival policeman and Hardy's nemesis.

Don't know about Cassel. Philip Seymour Hoffman was cast in the role first, then dropped out. Wouldn't surprise me if it was the serial killer maybe?

Paddy Considine is a "loyal ally" of Hardy, and Jason Clarke is a man Hardy accuses of disloyalty, from what articles have said.

Ah ok those are all great castings. And perfect picks for their respective roles

Its superb isnt it? I would recommend reading the next two books as well, The Secret Speech and Agent 6 respectively, both very good, though neither topped the 1st book for me personally.

Yeah I immediately purchased The Secret Speech after I finished Child 44.

^You will enjoy it, its a good follow up, the only thing I didnt like about it was its a little more unrealistic than the 1st book.

In the 1st, EVERYTHING felt real and as if it could actually happen, the 2nd book strays from that a little. Still a good read though, as is the 3rd book.

I don't really agree with this. My parents didn't know who he was until The Dark Knight Rises, and didn't know what he looked like until Lawless (his most recent role). His biggest mainstream role so far is Bane, where his face was covered and his voice distorted. A lot of people on the street probably don't know his name or what he looks like.

I know Hardy isn't a Dicaprio or a Hanks but I was surprised at how many people know him at school.

i agree with that. It's not stupid unrealistic where you have to turn hour brain off, you just have to suspend belief a bit more than you had to in the first one.

Thankfully the 3rd one goes a bit more realistic again, although not to the level of the 1st book. I would say the 3rd book is the 2nd best in the series behind the 1st, but all of them are good reads.

Tom Hardy always looks like he's about to smash someones head in.

haha, that pic of him and Oldman is kind of funny out of context. Like Hardy's really intensely trying to make him play a staring contest with him or something and Oldman's resolutely ignoring him.

Good stuff, Oldman must be playing the guy who trained Leo, which was a good role in the 1st book, especially when **** hits the fan.

Will we ever see this movie?? It's in 'post-production' since September... :(

There's no set release date that I can find anywhere, just "2014".

It's a pretty low-key movie for someone to make up having seen a screening of for attention or whatever though. It's not like ZOMG JUST SAW STAR WARS EPISODE 7!!!

For whatever reason, Hardy's movies seem to run into this kind of thing though. Mad Max took forever to get a release date.

I hope this does get released this year, the 1st book in the series was the best one so really this should be a great movie. I know it doesnt work like that but here's hoping.
