ChildLess, ChildFree, and Being Fruitful

Cuz like a used car u don't know what your getting:o

Yes that is a wonderful reason to create a new soul confined by the limitations of your DNA rather than helping a child already here deeply in need for parents.

Besides, you never know. That mystery baby might be a super-powered boy from Krypton. :ninja:

Wow, that's the silliest thing I've ever ready, sorry.
Don't be sorry. You're wrong about so many things, if you disagree with me, I'm probably on the right track.

People, GOOD people, have kids because they yearn to love another human being unconditionally.
1) Parents do not automatically unconditionally love their children. There are millions of broken homes and estranged families where most, or all, of the members of the family are basically "good" people.

2) See? Selfishness. There are millions of starving children, but they thoughtlessly bring ANOTHER life into this world of suffering just to satisfy their biochemical "yearnings".
Same reason an animal will mate with a female, sire offspring, but still go around killing the offspring of the other males. A Stupid animalistic "yearning" to stamp your personal mark on the world and satisfy your own craving despite the cost to the world and to the new life you've created.

They long to care for someone more than themselves.
Why don't they do that with EXISTING people?!
They have a need to feel needed.
Yeah. That's what I said. It's pathetic.
They have the desire to bring someone decent and kind into the world, so that person can make a positive difference in some way, no matter how small.
This I'll give you. If a good person really wants to give to the planet/life/society a new intelligence that was correctly nurtured in an environment conducive to shaping a good person who may have a positive impact on the world, that's cool.

You know DAMN well that's not the motive 90% of the time. I gave one of my many personal examples of procreation for the wrong reasons.

I personally am the PRODUCT of such misguided procreation, as is my brother!

There are of course exceptions to eveything.
I think "Cops" become cops because they're ****ed up and have evil power issues. But I personally KNOW GOOD cops.
I'm talking about the majority of the time here. I can't analyze all 5 billion couples on Earth or whatever it is.

Having babies and raising children is the most BASIC of needs - not just for humans, but for all species on the planet.

Um...LOL.....now THAT is the silliest thing I've read today.
You're....uh....wrong.
Try BREATHING, EATING, SHELTER.
You can't worry about pumping out your little urge-fulfilling, ego-massaging minions if you're starving to death, freezing to death and can't breath. :o

How can you sit here and judge, and make wild and completely unfounded generalizations about everyone?
I'm sorry. I explained that I'm talking about the vast, vast majority and not "everyone".

Try having a kid, or even adopting one, and then maybe, just maybe you will understand.
See? lol, you want me to bring another life into the world just so you can win an argument!!

Sick.

Uh, no. I won't be trying that. I know what's required to properly raise a child and I feel no desire to invest that much for those rewards.

Adopt a kid from Africa, I'm sure that he wouldn't ***** about left-overs and homework.

I'd personally rather have my own children. That way, I know what to expect from them.

That's a crap shoot in itself. What if your offspring is handicapped, then what do you expect?

pretty smart folx in here.. i thought i would be in the minority thinkin having children is selfish...sadly i cant argue for the cause guys... i procreate like rabbits:csad:

No you don't.

It may be born disfigured. It may be born albino. It may be born gay. It may grow up to be a multi-millionaire. It may grow up to be a bank robber.
It may grow up to do everything in it's power to rebel against everything you believe in. It may not.
It may grow up racist. It may be a boy, it may be a girl. It may die when it's 8, it may die when it's 120. It may take up smoking. It may become a rigid, fundamentalist Baptist. It may be schizophrenic. It may have your nose and your husband's eyes, or your grandma's chin and your husband's big feet. It.......

What on Earth makes you think you'll know what to expect?
If you want to know what you're getting, adoption of a partially formed human is the safer way to go.

oh my gosh. why is it so wrong to not want to adopt?

Expect in what way? You might being expecting a bouncing baby boy, only to end up with a Pseudo Male Hermaphrodite.

A pseudo male hermaphrodite who grows up to be one of the most infamous serial killers in American history. :o

Well then consider me selfish. All you who WERE NOT adopted: Do you think your parents made a bad decision?
Maybe I'm adopted and they never told me the truth. :oldrazz:

You know if more people actually put more thought in why they want their own genetic off spring rather than an adopted child I wouldn't challenge the idea. However, most people don't think about it and it reduces the human endeavor to a shallow rat race. Except no one questions what we're racing towards or why.

I already said, I know for a fact mine did.

It may grow up to share half of my genes, and if it were my gender, chances are it would be most influenced by my own personality traits.
