Prognosticator, I have to respectfully disagree with most of what you're saying. Out of pure curioustiy, could you specify what you thought was awkward... where do you think the emotional depth was lost? Thanks.

:p

Please tell me that's not the region 1 DVD cover.

No it is not. I believe it's region 2. And it's pretty much a bare bones DVD. I posted the information for the US release on the previous page.

I want to see this, but I don't feel like driving for an hour to find a theater that has it.

I'll just have to wait for the DVD. (Damn!)
Same here.

While we're on the subject of overexaggeration, you just topped Assassin.

while wolverine tends to exaggerate a lot...i happen to agree with him on that opinion. if they took away Cuaron's name and slapped Spielberg's in place i betcha no one would ever know Spielberg DIDN'T direct it. Children of Men feels like Minority Report mixed with Saving Private Ryan.

^ I get that. And I would normally agree, but then it wouldn't seem as original of a movie. :(

Well no one pays attention to directors much anyway. But I entirely disagree, the movie felt almost like a foreign film. And if spielberg directed it the ending would have been a half an hour of them just sitting on the boat. Don't get me wrong, he is a great director, but he can't end a movie to save his life.

glad this movie is getting love, I thought it was one of the best of 2006 (though thats not saying a whole lot). It was one of the few films I have seen in a long time where I have actually felt something more than just excitement. This movie was intense and how it didn't win the oscar for best cinemotography is beyond me, even though I really liked Pan's Labyrinth as well.

I gave it a 9/10 though because for the most part, the plot is only as deep as its premise, but the emotion and raw intensity of it all was amazing.

I gave it a 9 only because i thought there was so much more that they could do

People on these boards would have an Idea. I'm talking about the general populace.

as far as the common person goes, Spielberg is one of the only well known names out there. There aren't going to be many people who know who Alfonso Cuaron (sp?) is.

Seemed like an ok film. But the plot simply wasn't compelling enough to keep my attention.

Bought the dvd yesterday and I must say this is one of the best movies of 2006!!! Loved the entire idea of what if woman were no longer to have babies!!! 8.5/10!

So I just got back from seeing this film and I am speechless. from the opening scene the visuals are simply amazing and the plot is extremely interesting. There are a couple shots in the movie that I've been thinking about for the last half hour and have just thought, wow, how did they do that???

After seeing this movie I wanted to know what other people thought of it. After I saw it some a$$hole in front of me was like, "well that was ok, the begining and the ending kind of sucked" and I felt like drop kicking that punk in the head.

others who have seen it, what do you think of it and how would you rate it 1-10?

I wholeheartedly agree with the "a$$hole in front of you".

"Children of Men" The TV Series
By Garth Franklin
Friday, March 28th 2008 9:15am
"Bionic Woman" executive producer David Eick tells SCI FI Wire that he's working on a pilot script for a proposed TV series based on P.D. James' novel "Children of Men".

Alfonso Cuaron's 2006 film of the same name scored great acclaim, but it departed quite dramatically from the novel - using only the basic story concepts. This new show is expected to follow James' work much more closely.

"It's really taking root more in the origins of the novels in that it will focus on the cultural movement in which young people become the society's utter focus. Much like our culture, whenever Lindsay Lohan does something [and] it becomes the headline of every news show, it's about how, when you don't have a responsibility to the next generation and you're free to do whatever you want, where do you draw the line?" says Eick.

Eick adds it will question how society defines responsibility, freedom and a sense of values when it doesn't necessarily believe humans will survive as a species. "So it's a very compelling, I think, human question that science fiction has always explored extremely provocatively. It's not really a war show like the movie was. It's more an exploration of that issue."

I'm thinking you haven't seen very many movies, or else you have a big problem with overexaggerating. Don't get me wrong, it was a GREAT scene, but I could still name 20 better chase scenes.

**And let the ripping of Prognosticator from Assassin begin:(**

This sentence accurately expresses how I felt. I was REALLY anticipating this movie! The trailer was pretty close to perfect, but the movie left something to the senses that I haven't figured out yet.

It was like, you could tell a person shot the film deliberately in a non-traditional fashion. Maybe there was too much diversity in terms of camera work. Like, sometimes it was a giant scope and sometimes it was a handheld and sometimes it was greenscreen, etc... The movie was a book translated into a movie, and that's what it felt like. I bet the book is better.

I did find PARTS of the movie amazing. I loved its raw originality. I loved the uniquely realistic vision of the future. I like Clive Owen. I like Michael Caine. I liked the overall grey colormatte given to the film representing not only England but bleakness in the world...But there were some awkward moments that I couldn't entirely appreciate. Again, I think it's because they were turning a book into a movie. Some emotional detail was lost in translation.

its an opinion:whatever:

The only part that I really liked about this movie was the end. The end made it worthwhile watching the entire thing.
