Ok Surfer, this is my dream pick for Bruce Banner:

I like how everytime an unknown, or an actor that isn't that big in Hollywood, plays in ONE great film and people say they should play in everything.

I say no on Copley. He doesn't even have the look for Banner.

Yeah um...calm down.

I've seen him in D9 and The A-Team and I think he can pull it off.

Its not about him being in "ONE great film" and all the sudden I think he can do it all...I honestly think he could work.

And if he were to be announced as Banner this i'm pretty sure his reception wouldn't be as reviled as whoever else they come up with...

Banner tends to look quite different in the comics whenever a different artist draws him. There isn't really one recogniseable look, unlike Peter Parker. His appearance has basically remained the same, and nearly every artist who draws him still makes him at least resemble John Romita's version: eg Ron Frenz, Todd McFarlane, John Romita Jr etc. Compare that with John Byrne's version of Banner against Sal Buscema's, for example, or Jack Kirby's. Sometimes you can't even tell they are the same guy.

Yeah, true enough. I think we want a contrast between Banner and Hulk, so making him look kinda scrawny and dorky is what we want. I never thought Bana was the right physical look.

Jeetkunedo, is that baby Hulk?:yay:

This is crazy of Marvel, I can't believe they are replacing Norton, if they are not going to bring back Bill Bixby from the grave then Friege needs to sitdown with Norton and his agent and quit being childish and negotiate a contract.

It's mind-boggling to me that they let Norton walk. TIH was entertaining, performed respectably, and made a specific effort to launch/tie-in with the new movie continuity.

Hype for Avengers somewhat diminished, but in all honesty will likely recover if the rest of the cast remains intact.

Since Norton is out, I'd like Colin Hanks for Bruce Banner.

I can't understand all the buzz with Sharlto Copley. He may be a good actor, but he is completely wrong physically. His face reminds me of a killer, which isn't a very good thing. If only Bixby was alive, he was the only better choice than Norton :csad:

I agree. Copley doesn't look that much like a decent man. Troubled, yes, but not that kind of decency that Bill Bixby had. I thought Norton was pushing it at the time, as I didn't think he seemed all that sympathetic either, but more so than Copley. Copley looks a bit like a convict, and doesn't seem like he would bring that innocent, child-like quality to the Hulk that balances out the Hulk's rage and keeps him in check. Bixby had that, as did Lou Ferrigno, and so the Hulk in the TV series, while a product of anger, also seemed more of a gentle creature at heart who did have that child-like quality when not enraged. Copley looks like he might end up more like the Frye creature (in the TV episode "The First"). That's not the kind of Hulk I want to see on screen.

"We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in 'The Avengers,'" Feige told the site. "Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. 'The Avengers' demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H, Chris E, Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks."
You've got to be kidding me

Casey Affleck has been my back-up choice for Banner for a while now, but I wouldn't mind seeing Joaquin Phoenix give it a go.

Have you SEEN District 9? He has the nerdy/weak role down perfectly.

I would prefer Norton of course but as a replacement Copley would do well, i'll still be pissed with Marvel of course.

I'd be amazed if they didn't go with Adrien Brody considering he was the front runner for the Banner role in the last movie before Norton got the part.

Was he? If Brody got the role I would be happy.

I have updated the image that includes actors that people on this forum feel are best suited for replacing Norton. It now includes Jason Patric and Steve Buscemi. If there is any other actors that you would like to see on the list let me know and I will try to add them. Please keep in mind these are not necessarily my choices and I (like most of you) would keep Norton if I could. However, since that does not appear to be a possibility, I am just trying to help people see who they think might do the best job at replacing him. Once again keeping in mind who they feel would most personify Banner and who perhaps looks most like Norton to help with continuity and believability of transitioning to The Avengers movie. Also, to the person that created this poll. They may want to add some of these other names to the list, because while it is unlikely they will not exceed Sharlto Copley as the fan favorite, one of them might rise higher on the list then expected. In addition, (as JeetKuneDo had suggested in a round about way, through his Monty Python reference of “Sir not appearing in this film”), perhaps we should have an option on the poll to have no new Banner selected and the movie would contain Hulk Only.

However, it is just a thought.

You rock man.

STEVE BRUSCEMI????????

Seriously? Hahaha. Wow....

I say Peter Krause....second.

First - Edward Freakin' Norton.

Well I went through the thread pretty carefully trying to find out who people thought should be Norton's replacement, and I think there was one or two people at least that thought Steve Buscemi would be a good Banner. Once again these are not my picks per say, just what other people in this thread have mentioned as possible replacements for Norton as Banner. Unfortunately, we do not have many of these actors listed in the poll, so it is hard to tell how someone like Adrian Brody or Joaquin Phoenix would have faired if they were a choice. I have sent a personal message to the individual who started the thread requesting that he add these other actors, but we will have to wait and see if he responds.

Thanks!

Does anyone know if there is a way to edit the polls to include more actors as options, and if so how to do it. I got a response from "OptimusPrime114" the creator of the poll, asking how to do it. Unfortunately, I am still new myself and not sure how or if it can be done. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks!
