If the officials are proclaiming this case as a double homocide/suicide, then whatever hope such ones may have had has been regrettably extinguished. :csad:

To be honest with you? Now that I KNOW that the guy snapped and killed his own kinfolk, seeing him glorified in people's avatars and signatures is kinda disgusting to me.
Same here. But eh, when it's OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL they'll probably ditch them and realize they made a mistake. I know that most of them just originally did it because the liked him as the character/wrestler he was, but the fact is now he's most likely a murderer.

No his wife killed their son. He killed her for doing that, and then killed himself when he realized he had lost everything. Let me tell you this as a parent if someone killed my son even if it was my wife, I can't honestly say I wouldn't have done the same thing.
That theory also is not official. Sorry. Most people are reporting he killed everyone in the house including himself. So that's the most LIKELY scenario.

Sorry but that's not what I'm hearing on the media outlets as I drove into work this morning. They're saying he took out everyone and then himself.

And even if the scenario you've mentioned is true, do two wrongs make a right? Dude had other children to care for and love. Not saying that any child is "replaceable", but it's not like he wasn't still a father. Not to mention other family, friends and fans who adored him.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter if he "just" killed his wife, or both, their lives were not his to take. Period. :o

Yeah. Turns this whole post in another direction. Still great to see Sunrise come to terms with things he does.

Unfortunately, many people become so emersed in professional wrestling, they tend to think that they know the people they are watching on TV. However, the sad reality is we do not. And when you are told that one of your heroes is a cold-blooded murderer, the reality of the situation and the perception you have of that person have a hard time finding balance.

Hence the fact so many are questioning and speculating.

Getting back on topic...

Sunrise, you were forgiven almost a year ago this time dude, so I'm already over it and never held it against you. Why? Because as a fanboy/moderator I fully understand the passion and desire for quality films devoted to our beloved Marvel characters. So I never took your statements personally.

However, I do applaud your effort to own up to it here. That's a real man's man for ya.

I really do not know what to believe. At first I was shocked to hear of his death [even though I wasn't such a big fn of wrestling, i still knew who the 'Wolverine' was] but now upon reading and hearing evidence that he killed his family- well, that's just horrible.

From furious styles post
462. My second cousin is an officer with GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigations) and what he's heard in his circle is that Chirs Benoit's wife killed their son Daniel, called Chris and told him to rush home because of an emergency which is why he missed last Sunday's Vengeance PPV. Upon arriving home Benoit killed his wife in a rage for the death of his son and then killed himself Monday morning. His wife's body was found in the master bedroom, strangled with the cord from an alarm clock. The son's body was found in his room appearantly suffocated with a garbage bag. Chris then wrote a suicide note explaining what had happened, apologized to his family, his other children (from a seperate relationship), and his fans. He the fasioned a slip-knot noose from from rope taken from the garage and hung himself from the ballaster in the foyer of his suburban Atlanta home.

You are still missing the point from my last post. He was a sick man. drepression does a lot to you. I don't say what he did was right but it is a sad end to a great career.

I am waiting on official word...not jumping to any conclusions.

When I hear more about what happend (as facts are being withheld right now), then I will overlook the situation again.

Benoit was one of the greats that I loved. Watching him was a real treat. Whne I heard of his death, that was a shocker. It was like man another great gone. Now his murdered his wife, son and himself. He took two lives and his own.

He will be always be one of the greatest wreslters, but now him being a murderer has over shadowed a lot of what he has done for the business. I will always think of him as a great wrestler, but there is no respect for him as a person.

What is running through my mind is why did he do it? What problems were happening at home? What drives a man not just to murder his wife but son too?

Benoit's death part of a double murder-suicide

Written: June 25, 2007

According to lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned.
Benoit failed to appear both at Saturday’s live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWE’s Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family.
Authorities representing the Sheriff’s Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit’s new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m.
At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.
WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.
The three bodies have been received by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab, in Decatur, Ga., where autopsies will be performed Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not become available for at least two weeks.
WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time.

I have read all that, but it still doesn't give cause or anything they found in the investigation. I want to know what they found.

Until that stuff comes out, I am waiting.

Well, what I'm seeing so far is people's affinity for this man's "great career" overshadowing what has apparently happened.

We have to be very careful that our love for a celebrity doesn't move us to rationalize gross crimes against humanity. I can already see from what I've read on the internet that people's loyalties are misplaced. All they're focusing on is his wrestling greatness. Well, what about other losses?

What people are missing is that someone's daugher, daughter-in-law, friend, perhaps sister was killed. That someone's nephew, grandson, brother and childhood friend was snuffed out.

Therefore, when I put it in perspective, I don't give a damn about this man's wrestling career at this point. That's all null and void. What he's done NOW is what needs to be considered.

Most media outlets are saying he killed his family then himself, but I do agree that we should wait until all evidence comes out before we place blame. Not that any of us have any reason to place blame, either way beniot or his wife or both must have been in bad mental health. My question is, does anyone here live near Atlanta? They keep showing his house and it looks pretty nice, I bet someone could get it for cheap now.

it's going to be real intresting to get crowd reactions during the next show.

What will WWE do? If they do anymore tributes, it could come down to boo's.

Guess he didnt deserve a tribute on RAW.

I obviously don't know the motives for why Chris Benoit killed his family, but I'd have to agree with the above statement. After hearing that he is the one responsible, I don't think a murderer who killed a woman and a boy deserves a tribute. I'm not sure, but I'm assuming that the tribute show began to be aired before it was announced a double murder-suicide and I don't know if WWE would air it it was known before. I'd be interested to hear how WWE handles its remaining television programming for the week.

I may be wrong, but I *think* the double murder-suicide wasn't announced until 10 pm, no? This would be 2 hours into the 3 hour show.

They aired the 3 hour show before they knew about him doing what he did.

I'm guessing now they might show the title screen saying R.I.P then maybe a few wreslters will have black bands. I'd doubt the will celebrate Benoit much at all during the next few shows.

You can't ignore all his professional wrestling career because of this. The tribute is obviously for what he has done and given to the business.

His personal & private life shouldn't interfere with it.

I want to hear the evidence.
your "support" reminds me of a very popular case here last year:

this guy kills his girlfriend's brother and then tries to kill her, escapes and is caught, but guess what? he became very popular amongst girls because he happens to be a good looking fellow, and yes, a lot of women said exactly what you said

did that make him any less of a monster or did it make his victims die any less?

I don't know how many kids you have, but I would never hurt mine like that

twenty something years of getting beaten and beating people are much more important than actually killing your family and then yourself

that's basically what you said
