Chris Benoit Dead

....there are some real *****es on here! :whatever: Thanks for bringing truth and reality to the boards, Wil.

The real *****es are people like you, Will, and others who feel the need to mock the dead and try to make it seem like it's a joker. What happened isn't a joke at all, what happened isn't funny, and what happened is a tragedy to anyone who knows Benoit either by relation or friendship.

I am sorry, I'm not going to remove my avatar and dismiss Benoit's great performances as a wrestler. Just because I respected him as a wrestler does not make me someone who is honoring a murderer.

Their accomplishments are more akin to the Emmy Awards than they are to anyt athletic achievement, because athleticism isnt the determining factor on whether they win or lose, even though they are athletes.

As for wrestling being a sport, yes real wrestling is sport. The stuff in the WWE, ECW, etc. is entertainment and a physical soap opera. Sports arent scripted, their very nature dictates that the participants decide the outcome within the rules of the game.

Athleticism does have something to do with it, the bigger the cheers for a wreslter, the faster they're gonna rise in the ranks, a lot of that has to do on how they perform in the ring. Yes, their accomplishments are akin to Emmy awards, the fans think they're the best actor in the company at the time, their acting is mostly phsyical though.

Also, if curling is a sport, I think we can allow pro wrestling as well.

Maybe 15-20 years ago. A large majority of fans understand that professional wrestling is scripted. It's been heavily documented, but incidents such as "The Montreal Screwjob" have broken the facade that was known as "kayfabe." Nowadays, many wrestling fans are "smarks." The internet age has transformed the way professional wrestling operates, as well as how the fans react to the product.

With regards to this tragedy, people are having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that someone they watched on television, someone they believed to be a honest, hardworking, family man and someone they admired is a cold-blooded murderer.

The reality of the situation is, even if people did not know the "real" Chris Benoit, and regardless of who he is and what he does, the tragedy here is the fact that ALL of the people who admired him never would have thought he could be capable of such an act.

And yet, here we are today.

You're absolutely right. I've been a fan my whole life. I remember Benoit from his days in WCW. I was always a fan of his, but when I found out what happened, my pity for him turned to hate. I have now lost all respect for this man. All those, who are saying they want to remember him for what he did in the ring, are in denial (no offense) the man who was a performer, is the same man outside the ring. I have no respect for either.

Dude, he's a ****ing wrestler. Really man. It's not like the Intercontinental title is a Nobel Peace Prize. Yeah, it's sad and you have your right to mourn his death. But lets not put him on a pedestal as this great man.

Yeah, I don't get this crap about people admiring the character he played. Whether he was playing a bad guy or a good guy, he was an angry, fierce, wrestler. He wasn't handsome and disarming like Ted Bundy. He was a short, ugly, ripped, hardworking man who was skilled in what he did, and was friendly to fans.

So now I'm a *****e bag (i'm not denying it!) :wow:??? I didn't specifically say you were (although i've been thinking it all day), so don't smear my name around all the.......Naaaaaah, I'm just kidding, you can call me a *****e if it helps you during the period of grief! :yay:

Remember though, I'm not the one who's was SCREAMING conspiracy like an idiot for about 24 hours now, saying things like "I'll NEVER believe he did this!", and making the general populous of wrestling fans look like numb-nuts. :(

It's you, me and Caretaker left that still defend him.

I'm not putting him up on a pedestal. Where have I ever said he was a great man? I've heard fans say he was very friendly to them and was very warm to them. But I never said I knew anything about him on a personal level.

To me he seemed like a great/decent person who worked hard and took his craft very seriously.

Yes, he did great things in the ring, and that's what I'm paying tribute to. You don't like it oh well, you know what you can do with your post.

A very sad day for sure, RIP Chris "Crippler" Benoit along with his wife and child. My thoughts and prayers go out his family and friends. :csad:

I'd like to retract the part in bold. :cmad:

What a complete pile of ****. I don't care if he had problems, get help. You don't kill your family. WTF is wrong with people. :cmad:

You're 12 right?

This reminds me of that episode of Growing Pains when Brad Pitt was an a'hole to Ben and Ben started tearing down his posters. :(

This is just such a shock to me. I've loved Benoit, rooted for him. I remember seeing him perform in person, and cheering like crazy. He was a fabulous performer.

And now he's dead. And now he's a murderer.

This is just surreal...

Nope I'm 25. Are you sure you're the age you claim to be? You have a problem with people grieving over the loss of a great wrestler?

With that being said, if it's true that Benoit had a past history of being abusive and dangerous, why didn't Nancy get help? Why didn't she just divorce the man? Why not just leave him and never return? She stayed with him through the torment and everything.

That's why I have a hard time believing that he is a murderer. Most women I know would leave the man in a heartbeat regardless of being denied of a divorce.

Nice try. I don't condone what Benoit may've done at all. All I'm saying is that I see a lot of morons on these forums making light of the situation. If you're supposedly so disgusted about it, why joke about it? There's nothing funny about it.
I joke about all sorts of horrible things. I'll make a concentration camp joke BECAUSE it was so unimagineably horrible. And I've also watched documentaries about Nazi Germany on PBS and cried.
Everyone isn't the same. I was told that a friend of mine died and the first thing I did was make a joke.
It's hilarious that we all pee and poo and we're all trapped in this human nightmare of misery, that we endure, and endure, and endure and endure, to get to the big finale....we DIE.

I hate what John Wayne Gacy did.
Well he was a pretty cool painter. Maybe you should make a JWG avatar!

Mocking the dead has a way of coming back on a person and I sincerely hope you and other posters don't find that out the hard way.
Naw, I've made a million Terry Schiavo jokes, because they're so shocking, crass and in such poor taste, but in reality I certainly have nothing against her and was haunted by how horrible her situation was.
Just because you can't understand a different way of looking at tragedy doesn't mean that alternate appraoch is wrong, Grand Lord Emperor of Morality and Decency.

EDIT: Oh, sorry. I thought you meant "coming AT a person".
Coming BACK on a person?!
You mean some voodoo magical force is going to ensure that someone makes fun of me when I die...or, what exactly do you mean by that?

I will never, ever have a Victor Salva avatar. All I'm saying is he made some pretty good films despite the fact that he's a convicted child molester. Are we supposed to hate his films because of what he did?

That's MY POINT!
You LIKE his fims, SO, you like his FILMS, BUT...you don't honor HIM with an avatar, do you?!
So go ahead and enjoy footage of Benoit wrestling!
BUT, don't say that you're not honoring him as a man if he's your avatar.
All I was saying was that the SAME kind of mind-set that can't tolerate levity in response to tragedy is almost always the same kind of mind-set that would have a serious problem with glamorizing and worshipping a guy who would kill his family.

So quit preaching and calling people morons and worry about feeling how you feel about it, 'cause you have to admit, that there are probably people who would cry and b**** about your avatar.

Frankly, yes. Yes I do.

Wow, you're a bigger idiot than I though you were.
