The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Chris Cooper IS Norman Osborn

I remember reading he turned down playing Gordon in Batman Begins, sure he regrets that, so now he hopes this will make up for it.

I really don't understand the choice of Chris Cooper... he looks nothing like Norman from comics or even the tv series

Aside from his menacing face, neither did Willem Dafoe.

Willem Dafoe was somewhat skinny, Chris Cooper just looks like he has an "engorged" face, you know what I mean?

Why? Because he doesn't have cornrolls/waves/whatever that crap is on his head?

Casting is about whether or not the actor can play the character, not if he looks 100% like the comic book variation. To be Norman the only absolute criteria in terms of physical features are:

-Be a middle-aged caucasian male
-Look progressional
-Look menacing when you need to be

Cooper checks off all those criteria. Everything else is up to his acting.

Seeing as the seem to be going the genetic route with this film series I'd love to see a twist where we think the Goblin is a mutation like Spider-Man, The lizard, Electro & (I assume)Rhino but it turns out its actually a costume.

Clever use of CGI and prosthetics to create a mask that's in the film world a mask but impossible to create in the real world.

I wouldn't mind seeing a hint of homage to it, for an example, a novel of myths & mysteries with a picture of a witch, or in this case, a goblin riding a magical broom, laying on a desk next to an computer with drawings & proto-types of the glider on the screen.

Yeah that would be very cool!

I kind of wouldn't mind, if they were to go the best of both worlds between Ultimate and 616, this route:

Still wouldn't want the Hulk-like body, or his ability to create fireballs, but I could be fine with the horns and the purple cape. Just as long as they at least try this time to make GG look like GG.

I know this is a CGI picture of Hobgoblin, but IMO, it shows that a masked Green Goblin can look great on the big screen (which already felt obvious to me).

Just change the color to darker green, give him the cape/hat/whatever it's called. Make the mouth have a little bit more of a grin. Give him pointy ears. Then it's perfect if you ask me! The face in this picture, while obviously CGI, looks like made of a material of a mask.

does that mean we'll see a scene where norman looks through peter's window thinking harry is giving him a BJ and then he proceeds to beat the crap out of harry for being gay? then blows up peter's house with a pumpkin bomb or something ?

lol, seriously though, good casting. though i was excited for the possibility of michael massee.

Yeah I'd be fine with this too.
Ultimate route where he turns into a goblin creature, but still have him with somewhat of the old fashioned Goblin wardrobe.
CGI or not is the question...

That's actually pretty bad ass.

It's unfortunate that they dumped the original Goblin concept for SM, especially since Willem Dafoe had such an expressive face. The mirror scene remains a highlight of the Raimi series to this day for me.

It's also unfortunate that the mask concept is difficult to realistically adapt. Sure, it's fine and dandy in the comics for Osborn to put on a mask and still have the ability to make facial expressions....but realistically that's difficult to translate onscreen.

How about acting ability. I think that would take most precedence over the choice for someone to fill a role. Emma Stone, pre-transformation, didn't look like Gwen Stacy. Jamie Foxx doesn't look like Electro/Max. Their acting skills are what count.

Ten bucks says it's Ultimate Spider-Man's Hulk-Goblin.
The thing is, Cagefighterkip is probably right, if fanboys don't make a big deal about it now it'll probably happen. You know how you all begged for Venom to be in SM3, well, at least most of you. You're going have to do the exact opposite with telling Sony/Webb that you don't want to see The Ultimate Comics version of a transforming Green Goblin Hulk looking character.

:P There's no evidence to support a Hulk-Goblin theory. Or any other theory for that matter. We don't know what the ultimate choice will be.

Edit: No pun intended. Dammit.
