Well going in tonight there's way more police on the streets in my job's area than last night. More people too. Came in early again to side step any curfew issues. I will be taking my stick/wooden sword combo to the job until lockdown is lifted completly. But I know that I look a little sketchy. Still, my heart jumped when I got out of the train coming in to Manhattan and there were three police officers walking into the station. People on the street earlier follows the usual pattern of the last week. These folk are protesters. Skewing older, carrying signs etc. Now with the sun down there's far fewer people walking around.

The films dont address it, but in the books the pureblood wizards are completely clueless about guns. In the third book the Daily Prophet is talking about muggle policeman carrying firearms and they have to explain to the wizards it is a type of metal muggle wand.

I love Rowling's wizarding world, but her wizards are ****ing ignorant about a ton of very very common things. Like muggle pants and dresses. In book 4 an old wizard wears a muggle dress and his friend has to explain that the dress is for women.

Guest of a tenant came down around 3:45am. Was on cell. You could tell he was talking to a car for pick up. I ask him if he's waiting for transportation. He says yeah and that he's going to wait outside for the car.

Now... I just want to say... Dude is an okay guy. Seen him before. Never rude or the like. But this is a perfect example of the less toxic but still important to understand phenomenon of "White Privilage".

During all that's going on this guy, because he is a white guy of some means, doesn't think twice about the curfew or what may happen to him waiting out in the street if the police should roll by. I had to REMIND him about the curfew and told him he should just wait for his car in the lobby. Wealth and race means the dangers I have been thinking about during this crisis don't even begin to register for someone like him and once more, that's not to villainize him. He's a perfectly fine guy as far as I know. But he can afford, literally, not to have to think about the issues that are raging coast to coast or which someone like me has to take into account just to have a regular commute to work. Same planet, but two different worlds.
