An Ohio woman who teaches at a private Christian prep school in the Cincinnati area was placed on administrative leave this week after having stolen nude photos of her posted on a "revenge porn" website.
The woman, a fifth-grade science teacher at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, filed a stolen iPhone report on November 24th — one day after the photos surfaced online.
Despite being the victim of at least two crimes, the school decided to place the teacher, a married mother, on leave this Tuesday while they conduct an investigation.
"We have an employee who appears in some photos that have been compromised and made digitally available," school spokeswoman Jennifer Murphy said in a statement.
Parents of students reportedly welcomed the news of the teacher's suspension.
"The woman is already a victim," said one anonymous parent, speaking on behalf of others. "But this being a Christian school, parents are upset that a teacher is even taking naked pictures and sending them to people — and...her students are old enough to get online and Google their teacher's name and the photos come up."
It's unclear how the photos became public knowledge but WCPO suggests they may have been forwarded to someone at the school, most likely after they were published on infamous reputation-ruining website TheDirty.com.
"We don't know the intent as to how it was provided," said Murphy, the school's spokeswoman. "Our goal at this time is to inform faculty and staff and make sure we have minimal disruptions. We are a Christian school and a Christ-centered environment. We don't want to compromise the learning environment for our children."

Kinda messed up but it's a private school and they can do whatever the heck they want

She's the victim but the school decided she wasn't victimized enough.

Turns up thedirty is just a trashy gossip site, not a porn site.

I actually think the school is perfectly justified in this. Yes, she's the victim, but she put herself in a situation of being victimized in a way that conflicts with her workplace. It sucks that some guy did this to her, but she has now shown that she is living a lifestyle that flies in the face of the lessons she teaches her students. Plus, her students now have access to their teacher's boobs. She's lost all plausibility with those students, their parents, and the rest of her staff. She's better off finding work in a secular school or at least a different Christian school where she won't be judged because of her actions.

Apparently she was cheating on her bf with a married man who was employed at the School from what a few other reports have been saying. I'd rather not link it as they get rather graphic in detail and I don't want to get banned.

All the more I find ironic as Christians aren't supposed to be judgemental. Yet the most judgemental people I know tend to be hardcore fundamental Christians.

The school could use this as a teachable moment and give their community a lesson in forgiveness and why being judgmental about the failings of others is something Christ forbade. "Judge not lest ye be judged," "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone," etc. But something as radical as that would never occur to many "Christians".

Unless she was sending those images to people aside from her husband - especially students - the school should let her keep her job. Too many "Christians" treat sex as evil or shameful, while the world goes to the opposite extreme instead of pursuing a healthy balance. God created sex; He's not ashamed by it, so why are several of those who claim to follow Him? I understand they want to protect their students, but chances are the kids already know more than the faculty realizes.

I'm a pastor. IMO If she took the pics for her husband then the school was wrong to suspend her. If it's true she's not married then she was clearly sinning and these are the results so the suspension was appropriate.

As far as Christians being judgmental, Most people who reference 'judge not lest ye be judged' haven't once read it in context. There are many appropriate times to judge whether a sin has been committed. Personal forgiveness is of highest importance of course but even then there can still be consequences. Eg if a friend steals from me I'll forgive him but I'd be a fool to have him house sit for me. That's a reasonable consequence.
Beyond that, often Christians judge when they shouldn't. That's obviously wrong, but unfortunately Christians are just as fallible as all other human beings. Even in the Bible Paul had to reprimand a church that wasn't doing anything about one of its members who was sleeping with his father's wife (step mother). That's pretty messed up.

Agreed.

How long before this turns into another Christian bashing thread?3...2....1....

What century are you living in, sir?

The school acted in the right. What any teacher does behind windows with the curtains drawn is their own business. However, when acts of narcissism such as this reach the public sphere, then they have lost their privilege to teach.

My school had the policy that if a students parents or kids themselves were found out to be doing something "ungodly" the student could be expelled. That goes during the school year and summer. I saw kids expelled for stuff they did over the summer.

Thank God I didm't go to that school then. They would have burned my heretic ass at the stake for blasphemy.

This seemed obvious enough, but when the word "Christian" is applied, people will find some way to make the woman in question the victim.

Oh noes......war on Christians.........she never should have been fired...it was private.....

About two posts apparently :p

But now it isn't. It's pretty common knowledge that any time you let a person take "personal" photos of you naked, you risk it becoming public and must face the consequences.

And not only that, but I'm fairly certain that if this were to happen in a public, secular school, the consequences would have been the same. I mean, I'm not sure if it's in any school's best interest to have a teacher whose students can yank off to pictures of her breasts after (or during) school. That teacher showed poor judgement by letting the picture be taken, no matter if it was in private or not.

While the situation is more dire in a Christian school, I don't think the issue has anything to do with religion. Heck, Home Depot has fired people or similar situation, as have many other businesses.

Sadly, you are dead on in this.

This situation is pretty cut and dry. Religion really isn't even an issue here, but because she's kicked out of a Christian school, there seems to be something wrong with it. I don't understand the arguments in her favor.

Right because it's not like the photos were used by someone else to hurt her.

She's a victim of the man who posted them, yes, but she isn't a victim of the school. In that, her stupid decision to let the pictures be taken did her in. So yes, in my opinion, her potentially being removed from her position IS her fault.

People have the right to do what they want in private, but when it becomes public, they do have to take a degree of responsibility and consequence. This is one of those situations.
