Exactly!
It really bothers me how DC/WB handle that part in all of their franchises.
OK, MARVEL have the big luck that Stan Lee is still alive and happens to be the creator of ... (nearly) everything. *lol*
But I would have found a way to put Jerry and Joe in it and give them an important part of the legacy:
Imaging Jimmy and Clark going to the archive to get something important for research. They enter the room and Clark sees it for the first time and asks Jimmy what the big framed picture on one of the the walls is.

Clark: What's that? "Daily Star"?
*Shot of an old newspaper in a framed picture on the wall with Jerry's and Joe's pics (back from the 30's when they where young) next to a big headline.*
Jimmy: Yeah, that's actually the first print ever of the "Daily Planet". The paper was established by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1932. Back then they named it "Daily Star" and only released it throughout Metropolis. But when the success grew bigger they renamed it "Daily Planet" to get a wider readership worldwide.
Clark: WOW. Never thought it goes back that far.
*Shot of Clark and Jimmy looking straight at the paper but due to the shot also straight to the viewer.*
Jimmy: Yeah. Come to think of it ... we probably wouldn't be standing here right now if it wasn't for them.

What do you think of that guys? A little over the top or just the right amount of dedication for them? After all, they are the creators of Superman.
