Actors are going to go on talkshows and be asked what the movie is about and they'll just shrug.

ohhhh the old '' the movie is so complex that i dont understand it''.interesting when an actor reads the script he doesnt know what its about. but when we see the movie we will right? like always?i hope people are not naive enough to again fall for this BS. he knows what the movie is about. but this makes it more interesting for promotion right?

Ah, you know sometimes it's actually true that the scripts require some detailed reading to figure out what it's about, and coming from the mind of one C. Nolan it's not out of the realms of possibility that the story is hard to follow.

of course its true.

but fact is that every actor knew what the story is before he signed the contract.

Yeah, I'm sure Leo's enjoying playing dumb because it saves him from having to try to explain and risk spoiling the movie. Plus, it only heightens the curiosity for the film, so everybody wins.

And while there was zero new information as usual, there was a brief-but-amusing mention of Inception while Leo and Scorsese were promoting Shutter Island on French TV, courtesy of Marion Cotillard's boyfriend and Leo's longtime friend, Guillaume Canet:

ETA: removed the video because it contained a brief use of strong language. But if you search YouTube for "Guillaume Canet" and "Leonardo Dicaprio," you should find it (titled "Guillaume Canet's question for Leonardo DiCaprio") no problem. Which I do recommend because it's good for a giggle.

Some actors sign on to a film just because of the director alone, regardless of the story. Nolan's Hollywood golden boy at the moment, a well respected director who is known for quality films, there would be a hell of a lot of actors who sign blind simply because they know what this guy is capable of, so whilst the actor may have had a basic plot line, similar to the one we've been given, it's not necessarily true the actors knew what the whole film was really about before signing up.

You may want to take down that video, since it contains swearing.

that rule is really unreasonable IMO. what if a movie trailer has swearing in it?

It's the rules, you don't like it complain to the mods. Additionally, green band trailers don't have swearing so that matters not. Red band is another story but very few movies show them.

Ah, thanks, I didn't even think about that.

You guys should look it up, though. It's pretty amusing. :D

it also entirely possible that some things in the script make a whole lot more sense visually, on film, than do when just reading through

also i think its entirely beliveable that even knowing the story full well, if an actor showed up onto a set where everyone else was stand still and off to the side theres a bunch of spinning mirrors and crap, that they may pause and think: wtf?

You are right in sying that some actors sign on to films because of a director. However even if they may not have read the script beforehand , i will agree with dark_b that they should understand the script once they start filming the movie. Directors sometimes only give portions of the script to actors but thats always the case with actors having minor roles. THe leads always get the full script to see.

Even when shooting a movie , there are always conversations between actors and directors discussing scenes such as what the direction they should go to , the meaning of scenes etc. Directorsknow how a movie will look but by the end the actors should have an overall image of what the movie is about.

So yeah what Leo has said IMO is just the basic " bs" that actors always says about directors. And yet it remains an effective way of promoting the movie.

I think that the fact that Dicaprio has to lose a lot of weight at some poit in the movie, could mean that this movie only takes places withing the mind. He's probably hookeded up to some machine, looking like the skinny dude from te movie Seven.

I just want to say that the music in the most recent trailer is awesome. I'm assuming it's a sample of Zimmer's score for the movie.

If so, then .

The attached the Inception trailer to the Wolfman prints here in Holland. I have to admit that the scale and the cinematography was truly awesome. Even on a small screen.

Seeing this stuff in IMAX will definately be great :woot:

Should've had a new trailer with shutter island. Missed opportunity.

Meh. Call me old fashioned but i still think that trailer should be added to appropriate flicks. Shutter island will probably have legs and it opened pretty solid. Yet if i were a WB exec. i'd release the (final) trailer with Clash Of The Titans. Bigger movie , bigger audience.

after seeing Shutter Island, theres now a lot of connections to Inception

Well we don't actually have a trailer yet. We only had two teasers.
