Hahahahahah. Vulture's review came in fresh.

This quote is why Vulture is a fresh review: "The best way to think of Captain America: Civil War is as a toy box in which the sheer quantity of toys partly makes up for the lack of anything new."

Doesn't the reviewer get to decide whether his review will show up as fresh or rotten as well?

He does. he notifies RT if it's positive or negative. That's why Deadpool lost one rotten a couple weeks ago because the author told RT it wasn't rotten.

There were some positives in there lol. I think middle of the road reviews that come in after the initial reviews have established that the film is likely to end up doing well critically sometimes sound negative if they're overall only slightly positive (and vice versa when a film is looking like it is going to review badly). A bit like a Devil's advocate effect.

86 fresh, three more till it passes the amount of fresh reviews that, a certain other movie involving fighting heroes has, but it took 325 reviews to get there.

Review is very spoilery, and remarkably giddy.
Reviewers said nothing is new, but looks to me like he enjoyed almost every moment of it.

I've been tracking that, too. ;)

Also....95%.

Wow.

I see that the usually thing that happens on RT (scores starting high and then progressively dropping) is not happening here. CW started high, then dropped just a little (93% 2 days ago), and is now climbing back to 95%. Awesome!

It will probably drop. Some top critics will tear it apart but i don't see it going below 90%.

Overall it seemed like edelstein did mostly enjoy the film.

I think critics should judge CW based on whether its a good film for its genre. Not compare it to Citizen Kane. We all know its a different type of entertainment based movie

All this needs to do is stay under 30 rotten reviews and it's a guaranteed 90% considering at least 300 critics will review this movie. I'm confident in that.

How about 15/300?
It will keep it at a glorious 95%.

Still very strong and we aren't too far away from 1/3 of the way there. Not looking like a fluke.

I don't seem that happening. I'm figuring at least 20 rotten reviews considering there's 5 already. Those US critics, they're savages.

There's always a couple of 'hipsters' to drag the score down. Also America is quite harsh on superhero movies.

5 out of what coming close to 100, if the first 100 is done with only 5 rotten reviews, the chances of 15/300 might be more possible.

Not really, considering the majority of the first 100 reviews are from people outside of the US. When the rest of the US critics get a hold of it there will be another 15 rotten reviews guaranteed. Even at 20 it stays at 93% which is great.

America, and not fond of a movie half -or rather quarter- titled with their country name.
Someone I know should see this, and eat his hat out of frustration.

I didn't know Vulture was a NY Magazine reviewer and a Top Critic review to boot.

There's probably AT LEAST another 35 top critics out there. 5-7 of them are bound to give a rotten.

I think the US critics will be tough on this film as usual, esp the arthouse snob types who praise crap like Knight of Cups.

That was my impression too, when I read it. Positive, but with reservations. It's clear he enjoyed it.
