The suit altering his image to look what, older, uglier?

The Kryptonian glasses should do the trick along with some hypnotic effect, people would see him differently (despite looking the same), that's all he needs.

The costume would use the same Kryptonian properties as the glasses to make him look...different, unrecognizable. (not necessarily ugly, or old)
At least it would provide a meaningful reason for wearing an elaborate costume that doesn't include a mask.

Not saying it's the best idea, (IMO the best idea would have been wearing the glasses much sooner) but it does make more sense than him just putting on magic glasses at this point in the Smallville story the way it's been presented so far.

Again, TOO MANY PEOPLE, FOR TOO MANY YEARS have seen him without the glasses! Even if Clark starts wearing Kryptonian glasses that make him look different - Superman would still look exactly like Clark used to look.

The people close to him would have photos of him that would look nothing like the Clark who wears magic glasses, but the Clark Kent in those photos would look exactly like Superman. Not to mention that every Kryptofreak, everyone who went to Smallville high, everyone who followed his football career, or the countless other people who haven't seen him in his new glasses would instantly recognize him the first time Superman is on the news.

The Kryptonian glasses would have had to have been there all along to be truly effective by themselves. There would have to be some element of time travel or a world wide mind-wipe along with the glasses to make them a solid disguise at this point in the story.

Actually, the best idea might be that both the costume and the glasses have mystical Kryptonian properties that keep people from putting two and two together - that should cover all the bases...

Yes! I am so glad you posted that story! That was one of the earliest Superman comics I got (and did not cut the cover up to turn into homemade Colorforms!). It would show a great respect for Earth - 2 Continuity if they went with the Kryptonian glass/superhypnotism thing.

yea at this rate they could probably pull what they did with spider-man with how his secret was put back into the bottle, and now no one knows who spidey is and their is some mental block on the world to never know the two unless he unmasks to them.

If the costume has magical properties, then there's no need for him to wear glasses.

Wait what did they do to spiderman?

Well when he unmasked during the whole Civil war thing. when that was over and villains were going after his aunt/wife and all that. Aunt may was shot by a hired gun from kingpin who was in jail. Peter tried anything to save her life but couldnt do anything.Then the devil meshipto(spelling???) appeared to peter and MJ to strike a deal to save aunt may's life and to put his secret back to being a secret. The deal was for peter/mj to give up their mariage and their whole life they have had since they been married. And the devil would save aunt may and put the secret back. Now with the secret back, their is some sort of weird not fully explained yet mental block the whole world has and they cant put 2 to 2 on peter parker and spiderman is one and the same. Only way for that block to be removed is for peter to willing unmask himself to someone. Then they remember who he is. So far only ones who know now are the fantastic four, captain america(bucky barnes), wolverine, ronin(former hawkeye), spider-woman, jessica jones, luke cage, and mockingbird.
