Found this on YouTube - it's the first episode Ever!

quite a Few things jump out at me. Someone said Jazz didn't talk like a brotha in the cartoon - Seems to me that he Did.

Also, the robots transformed into different shaped 'vehicles' - certainly not earthly. Plus, notice how they got their "forms" - some satelite launched on it's own, found vehicles, and repaired each robot with a new layout.

C'mon 'fanboys' - the movie they delivered is a Much needed Improvement. Give the guys who put this film together a break.

What are you trying to prove by posting those? I don't understand your point.

He's trying to prove that the original series was outdated and needed some touching up in some areas.

Also Jazz was always african american... or talked like it anyway.

I think that's it.

I have a few points.

The forums I have participated in on this board, I've been told that Jazz didn't originally sound like a brotha - and he does.

I've read people say things like the Original was better - compare the two.

The new version is much better, more believable, and they pay homage to the original in many ways; There should be more appreciation of what was given to us, instead of all the constant complaining that I've been reading over the last couple of days, on various topics all by people who don't really seem to Remember what they watched, 20 years ago.

Plus, It's nice to be able to watch the Original... right?

"Homage"

They've got the 'lubricant' joke... the Damn is in episode 2 ... megatron's Flail, and Optimus' Laser axe ... Them hacking the Earth Info - They do lots of the same stuff in the movie - but they do it better.

"some satellite launched"

LOL

I think quite a few of us remember what we've watched back then. We've been following this movie for quite some time and lots of us have watched all of the episodes quite recently in fact. While I like a lot of things about this new movie...there are quite a few things I don't like.

But you're right...they do a lot of things better...its a 150 million dollar movie after all. But have they done things other than little homages now and there better? Not really. The actual Transformers themselves are as shallow, if not moreso, than the same characters they originated from...why can't THEY be better. I mean, they look and move much better...but for all that gloss and complicatedness...they are more simple than their cartoon counterparts...except for maybe Prime and Bumblebee.

Well, that's one thing I Do agree with - Even I wanted to see MORE screen time for the autobots AND the decepticons - but to me this was like a "Setup Movie" ... sorta like X-men 1

I also wanted to see SoundWave - I always thought his voice was dope.

Yes, it is a set up movie...they are definitely thinking sequels for this movie already. But...if this is a set up movie...what are they setting up? More human prevalent movies that place the actual Transformers with minimal character development again? Because if they try and break the mold for the sequel then I'm thinking general audiences will cry foul for the sequel straying too far from what they set up in the original. Unless they make it brilliant like Empire Strikes Back was to A New Hope.

I for one, hope they spend MUCH more time on the Robots in the sequel, instead of the people; although I enjoyed the people, but I am looking forward to a part two, that includes an all out battle between these "new version" robots!

"new version" robots? You mean the ones designed for this movie?

They won't have a choice to NOT focus more on the robots in the next one (although I have never complained about the focus on the humans). A lot of you should've expected this, especially since this is an origin picture pretty much. It took like 75 minutes before Optimus showed up.

Now that most of the backstory of Cybertron and the Autobots and Decepticons have already been explored, they won't have to waste time on it in the next movie.

Waste time on it? It took only 5 minutes to explain it in this movie.

I agree that Prime and Bumblebee defenitely got a lot more attention, but after all, it is a 2 and a half hour movie. Not a tv series that lasted for years. I will say that the first few episodes of Transformers porbably did a little better job of identifying each character with individual traits, but then again, it wasnt nearly as realistic. In my opinion, there have to be some sacrifices in these adaptations. I would say, and hope, that the second movie will do more in developing the Transformer characters. This movie was just an introduction. I honestly think that if they can develop the returning, and new characters the way that everyone wants, and at the same time provide that much action, this franchise could be one of the biggest ever.

I realize that it is just a two and a half hour movie. But so much time and money was wasted on little sub plots that didn't truly enhance nor move the movie forward. The hackers got more character development than most of the bots, not to mention the time wasted on John Tuturro's character...was that really needed? Wasted potential.

<snip>

There's a difference between talking like a brutha (or old 1930's jazz lounge musician to be precise) and being a joke for joke's sake. After all, you didn't see Ironhide do the "achy brakey heart" line dance and say "kiss my grits" when he was introduced now did you? You should also notice that Jazz was giving orders in those first two cartoon episodes. Quite different than the "throwaway" character he was in the movie.

I could NEVER imagine Scatman Crother's saying, "What's up b*****s".

Stop you right there. Most people understand this movie is a vast improvement over a 22 minute toy commercial in the eighties. That much is apparent. You'd have to be strung out on crack as an adult not to see how little that show cared about logic, character development and continuity (the latter two changing in the third season and from BW on). Yes, we know that. Yes, we all realize Prowl shouldn't look like a police car robot when he is clearly on Cybertron having no contact with earth. Those things are apparent.

Is the movie an improvement. Yes, of course it is. That isn't hard to do. What people complain about on here sometimes can be chalked up to fanboyism. Sometimes it can be chalked up to not having seen the series in a long time or having little knowledge about the franchise overall. But sometimes, and it seems for some of the points you're bringing up, the complaints much more have to do with people's standards for action movies.

I myself don't hear many "why didn't the Transformers look blocky and have bendy metal and transformations that don't make sense" complaints, save for a few posters. So, I'd say you're post is both borderline trolling/flaming and also sort of preaching to the choir in many aspects.

Yeah he was voiced by a black dude, but he didn't become a sterotype until bat got his hand on him, with all the hiphop lingo. Wassup up lil *****es?? Man i cringed when I heard htat.

i thought when jazz said "wassup lil b*****s" was a good line for him. jazz is the autobot who likes to take in human culture right? the way i see it, he's the same jazz, but updated a little bit. it feels right to me. cursing is everywhere "on the world wide web"...jazz probably downloaded a lot of music. lol.

and i personally thought bumblebee was asian. at the end, his voice sounded asian to me. i mean aside from his huge eyes, he's practically asian to me. i mean he's yellow! lol. take heart my friends, i'm asian.
