Clint Eastwood will next direct and star in Gran Torino for Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures. Variety says the film is scheduled for a December release.

The trade adds that details of "Torino" are being kept under tantalizingly tight wraps. Existence of the film, and Eastwood's role, were only revealed on Tuesday when Warner quietly dated the movie for sometime in December.

Producers are Rob Lorenz, Eastwood's partner at Malpaso Productions, and Billy Gerber. Executive producers are Jenette Kahn and Adam Richman at Double Nickel Ent.

On Nov. 7, Universal and Imagine open the Eastwood-directed Angelina Jolie starrer Changeling, a child abduction drama. Also for Warner, Eastwood is set to direct Nelson Mandela pic The Human Factor.

God, I love Clint Eastwood. He's such a badass, even in his 70s.

Working title for Dirty Harry 6? ;) If Stallone can succesfully revisit his old characters, so can Clint Eastwood.

Ha! :D that crossed my mind, the fact it is gonna be released this December makes me think it's something smaller though.

Hehe. Indeed. It could totally work though. It'd be fun to see him blasting away thugs with his .44 between all these red-tape, by the book, politically correct cops.

Clint Eastwood is undoubtedly one of my favourite actors of all time. And easily in the top 3 of coolest actors ever. Along with Lee van Cleef and James Coburn.

Unfortunately, he's the only one still alive. :(

Big Sergio Leone fan, I take it? I am too.

Gran Torino a Dirty Harry Sequel?

IESB just received an e-mail from a reader who claims to know a little something about the recently announced Clint Eastwood film, Gran Torino.

According to him, Gran Torino will secretly mark the return of "Dirty" Harry Callahan in a sixth film in the franchise:

Nobody seems to know - not even the trades - what Clint Eastwood's new movie, Gran Torino, is.. So I'll tell you.

I recently advertised my 1974 ford grand torino classic original for sale in the local here, and within 24 hours had someone from Village Roadshow Pictures interested in having a look at it. He came. He wasn't interested for numerous reasons (probably the modifications). He told me they were looking for the right car for a new Clint Eastwood movie.

He said it was a thriller about a killer that drives a certain torino. His 1972 Ford Gran Torino is the only thing the police have on him. A retired police lieutenant, one Harry Callahan, makes it his mission to track down the culprit when two young police officers, one Callahan's grandson, are shot and killed by the guy.

So there you have it.

Hope that helps.

On with the show,

Kurt, North Hollywood

''Hey. I'm looking for a car for a new movie. Oh I dont want it, but here's the plot outline which we've kept under tantalizingly tight wraps so far''

I would totally love it. But I don't buy it for a second.

I'm with Carmine, sounds cool but like a fanboy story, however it is odd that they are not saying what the film is about, especially with it being released this December. Makes me think it's gotta be something cool they want to make a surprise.

As much as I'd love another Dirty Harry movie, Clint is almost 80 YEARS OLD! If they could pull it off it'd be awesome but the dude is really up there in age.

That's true. If it'd been another of these Eastwood-drama's (Million Dollar Baby) they would have told us I think.

With this title, it probably isn't a western either. :(

I'm glad it's not a western, Clint said goodbye to the genre in the perfect way with Unforgiven.

Well, when I think Eastwood I think western. He is the western personified.
Ofcourse what you say is completely true. I agree 100%.

And now he has to say goodbye to Dirty Harry in the perfect way....:D I hear The Dead Pool wasn't the best way to do it. It's the only DH flick I haven't seen yet. It would be perfect if he could make one that is just as good as the original.....

Exactly what i was thinking about Dirty Harry, The Deadpool is a watchable thriller and has it's moments, hell it's Eastwood as Dirty Harry so of course it got them BUT, it's the weakest entry in the series and giving Harry a proper send off the way he did the western with Unforgiven would be awesome.

Given the short turnover plan for this film it would seem ideal, if it is Dirty Harry it should be a stripped down thriller that wouldn't take ages to make due to elaborate set pieces.

That's a very good idea. Just a raw crime thriller/drama 70's style. Also, they shouldn't pretend he's a young man, making him do roof top chases and ****. I think that this thime he should have the .44 Magnum do EVEN MORE of the talking. :D

Exactly, have him blast a few scumbags and for the chase they can make it a car chase, especially since the title refers to the possibility of the killer being synonymous with his car. We got this sorted Carmine. :woot:

YES! We must bring this pitch to Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures! :joker:

A more heart felt story (which, to me, seems much more plausible) may be what the film is actually about:

"Our source tells us this will be a simple, quiet and compelling drama about Walt (Eastwood), a rural bigot who finds his outlook on life changed after a family of Hmong immigrants move in to the home next to his own, striking up a friendship with the family's teenaged son Tao over the older man's now-classic car."

I like it.

I'm always up for something new by [Seamus McFly]Mr. Estwood[/Seamus McFly].
