And then when she offers to buy a pony back later on, he frightfully replies, "Wait... are we trading again?"

Hilarious.

For those that have seen the film, how much would you say Barry Pepper is in it? I just saw the featurette on Apple that had a section devoted to him, and I honestly had no idea he was in the movie. You can barely recognize him in the clip. I think he's a pretty underrated actor and I really like him, so it's nice to have yet another reason to look forward to seeing this.

Round ten minutes I'd say. His scenes are a highlight cause of how out of left field you think it's going to play out based on how he looks.

Between Hit Girl and this little chick, we're getting a lot of decent young up and coming actresses as of late. So long as they avoid the trappings of the biz.

Just saw it tonight along with The Fighter.

Both were fantastic movies...I am surprised, I thought it would have more of an emotional punch to this. However, the film pure GOLD. I reccommend all the fellas on this forum to go check this out.

Very well made film and the great thing about the Coens is you cannot tell if they made the film or not.

The girl Hailee shocked me...She is front-runner for Best Supporting Actress...I would not be surprised now if she wins this easily.

I also agree that this will be nominated for Best Picture and will be right there in the end, but might lose to one of those real drama films.

About The Fighter, I think Christian Bale has locked up his first oscar. Its about time.

Also, the dialogue in this film was absolutely fantastic...Gotta love the Old West

P.S. Glad to see Barry Pepper doing really good films...Great actor.

just came back from seeing True Grit and what an excellent film it is! not a whole lot of action, but the story is great as are the characters. lots of funny moments in the film as well.

the main girl did a great job, great acting on her part. and i am the type of person that normally hates kids in movies. this was one of the rare films that i liked having a kid as the protagonist. Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon did an incredible job as well. was kind of surprised at how little screen time Josh Brolin got though. who ever posted that Brolin would be a great Marston in a Red Dead Redemption film, i completely agree with you. he's got the look down and the man can act.

to those that have seen the original, just how different is it from the Coen Bros adaption?

I guess they are going to slot Hailee in the Supporting Actress category for tactical reasons, but really, her character is the leading character in the movie, and should really be in the Leading Actress category. She owns the film from beginning to end.

Her character was the lead like Freddie Highmore was the lead in Chocolate Factory and Mia was the lead in Alice. Kinda overshadowed by the older vets.

I didn't think that she was overshadowed. She was the lead. Also there was not great or even good acting in Factory and Wonderland so you can't compare.

Yes, she more than holds her own with Bridges, Damon and Brolin. Astonishing performance. If it weren't for The Fighter and The King's Speech, I'd say she was a lock for Best Supporting Actress at this point.

i really want to see it and i hear she is great in the clips i have seen she has a very strong screen presence

this movie was great, even better than i expected
a bit anti climactic but still worked

jeff bridges should be nominated.. sucks he was already nominated for that stupid crazy heart movie

Saw this today! GREAT movie! I was very impressed with Hailee.

I saw the movie tonight and basically enjoyed it.

However,I feel as if the quality of the movie mildly collapses in the third act,the main villain could have been better. Bridge's character was too bumbling in the third act. A minor nitpick is how the serious tone sort of get's undone once that happens in the third act, another minor nitpick is the ending. The ending was pretty damn generic.

8.5/10

Agreed. Eff Crazy Heart.

What's with the Crazy Heart hate??? That was a damn good movie and Bridges was amazing in it

I think modern audiences are being spoiled by special effects, because I don't think they realize how awesome Rooster's final shoot out was. I mean, that's really Jeff Bridges riding a real horse with reins in his teeth shooting guns. That's kind of amazing.
