Saw it this week. Ehhh. I'm not that big a fan of the original, but this was ok. Not as great as everyone says. Not a whole lot of action (I'm more used to the old Sergio Leone westerns like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, so I was kinda miffed to see that this wasn't as exciting as the trailer makes it out to be. Grrr...), and I REALLY didn't like how they top-billed Josh Brolin only for him not to show up until the end for barely 10 minutes. Hey, at least he was better here than in Jonah Hex. Ugh, that movie was so badly handled

****, I forgot to mention the use of 'Leaning On Everlasting Arms" at the end.

Was that a nod to Night of the Hunter? Because that was my immediate thought.

I am so glad to see this movie raking in the dough. Hope it makes over 150mil in total and I hope it comes out on top this weekend.

lol @ how there's only around 20 votes in this thread.

Loved the humor in this film, it was very well written- really dug the authentic dialogue, Damon was okay but Bridges was the true show stealer. Will I highlight it as a favorite? No, not really but I definitely quite liked it. 8/10.

Maybe they can remake the sequel to the original :awesome:

Lord, there's a sequel to the original??

Anyway, did anyone else notice Barry Pepper? The man did a great job. He was so unrecognizeable in the film. It took me a while to realize it was him.

When she told the Marshal she heard he was a man of True Grit I thought of the episode of Family Guy where Peter says he like to watch movies when they say the title of the movie in the movie

True Grit is decent at best. Sure the acting, directing and cinematography are great but the music is inconsistent, the story is flat and the characters are weak. Not entertaining.

i wouldnt want a sequel. but i would love to see an original coen brothers western with all their trademark quirks and characters.

There was one sequel to the original True Grit: Rooster Cogburn. And despite John Wayne returning (and only he returning) with Katherine Hepburn in supporting...it was still terrible. Do not bother.

Nope, actually there was another.

From wiki:

A made-for-television sequel entitled True Grit: A Further Adventure, appeared in 1978, starring Warren Oates and Lisa Pelikan, and featured the further adventures of Rooster Cogburn and Mattie Ross.

I'm sure it's the bastard child of the two, though :oldrazz:

Yeah, same here. In my mind I was like 'she said the title!"

True Grit Lies.

Cameron directs. Arnie co-stars and doess an old west version of the Jamie Lee Curtis "stripper" scene with Jeff/Rooster.
