You're right. Khan got his head bitten off. Still MUCH better than what we got. And there was the but where Lizard tins the SWAT guys that they cut.

Those cuts kill me.

I'd love Feore as Toomes. The safe bet is JJJ. But I would dig Toomes.

mspaint ftw

If Feore ends up as Jameson I won't complain. I don't recall if he's ever played the angry funny type before but who knows, perhaps there was something that made Webb happy enough for him to land the role.

He does resemble Toomes but I think by now it is obvious that Sony will NEVER allow Vulture in a film anytime soon

I for one, hope they lose the over-the-top and cheesy funny man-child JJJ that Raimi gave us. I know people love their comics and cartoons, but I'm hoping for a more grounded and a much less silly character of the character played by the talent that be.

While I like things to retain a comic sensibility, I have to agree with Creator here.

There comes a point when you leave "crotchety" or "bullheaded" or human characteristics and move into "stunted manchild". That shtick was wearing thin by SM2, for sure.

I want comedic, but not 100%, nonstop over the top like in Raimi's trilogy. There were maybe two semi-serious moments for him in the films. If they could have a balance, he would be a bright spot of the film(s). You want JJJ to be a comedic person, not a "character." You don't want to leave the film saying "Wow, JJJ really is a character." You know what I'm saying?

Here's the thing, why would JJJ be comedic? His job is stressful and it's very competitive. I would think in a live action film, he would be more serious, perhaps dry humor every once in a bluemoon, but he shouldn't be comedic.

nothing wrong with a comic relief character.

to me jj is funny because he's always yelling and has deluded himself into believing that spider-man is a menace, even when there is overwhelming evidence that he is just the opposite.

seeing him constantly spin a story against spider-man is amusing to me.

tssm:

jj "they're all working together somehow!"

robbie: *annoyed* "ugh, to what end?"

jj "to raise my blood pressure!"

That's foolish and childish writing.

All right buddy... one thing to say you'd like to see JJJ as a more serious character, but its another completely to say SSM was foolish. To this day it remains the best incarnation of Spider-Man apart from the comic book page.

But it's a cartoon, and that writing for JJJ is childish and foolish. He's Raimi's JJJ on Speed. That makes him doubly cheesy.

I guess you are fairly new here, so I'll cut you some slack, but to say it's worth any less acclaim or respect because "it's a cartoon" isn't gonna get you anywhere.

Assuming you've seen the cartoon, you should know that it's as spectacular as the title suggests.

Argh I'm such a dumbass. All this time I've been thinking of Colm Meaney.

His point isn't that a cartoon is an invalid medium, it's that what works for cartoon writing does not always translate into film. That's neither condescending or controversial. It's just a fact.

All this love for TSSM is fine, but assuming that means it should be ported over verbatim to a motion picture is pretty dim.

after all this speculation on this, that and the other watch him end up being just some FBI guy or something :funny:

I like the DC cartoons better Batman TAS and Justice League--and Spawn HBO series (when it comes to comic book cartoons) even though I'm much more of a Marvel guy. And I don't consider Spectacular...to be...Spectacular. And I hate their JJJ, he's more over-the-top and cheesy than Raimi's version. Hope I didn't step on any toes, being new and all.

I don't understand that. There is so much potential to Vulture. He could be an awesome main villain if they play their cards right!

If Rhino can make an appearance, then sure Vulture can as well sometime. Especially if they're building up for Sinister 6. Need some airial battles.

I agree with that. If they can have rhino, why not vulture? In my opinion, they're equally boring villains. But at least vulture brings those aerial battles to the fold.

Exactly, just because one doesn't want a cartoonish, over the top JJJ in TASM 2 doesn't mean one doesn't enjoy that version too in other contexts'.

There is room for more than one interpretation of characters and such, and thank god for that. It's not all black and white.

Raimi's JJJ worked fantastic for his Spider-Man world, he would be awfully out of place in Webb's.

Even though I didn't like TASM itself, I liked the approach of it. Spidey in a slightly less exaggerated and clear cut world.
