The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Status Report: Where are you?

Massee, honestly, makes more sense as Goblin.

And it would seem like more of a waste to have Massee not be the Goblin.

That's precisely what i'd say about Chris Cooper. He's a better known actor, he was in American Beauty even! I like Masse, but let's be realistic here - it makes no sense to cast an Oscar-winning actor in a dud role, instead having a lesser known actor be the REAL villain. I know everyone around here loved the idea of Masse as Goblin, I know I did too - after all, I believe he was our first real guess - but it's like people are being too stubborn than actually using their brains sometimes! :cmad:

Ps I love you all

What's up with Cooper's lack of eyebrows by the way? I'm just curious.

But see, there's the Dilemma. As most will tell you, Massee is better for Goblin, and Cooper is better for Norman. And it would be a waste not to have them play either role. Plus, as far as the story goes, it doesn't make sense for either (particularly Cooper) to be Norman/Goblin.

they're recooperating? :hehe: :awesome:

What villain is second runner-up that Massee can play?

Cooper - Goblin
and
Massee - The Gentleman

OR (the somewhat less likely, but imo preferred)

Masse - Goblin
and
Cooper - Chameleon

Either way, I hope they are both involved.

The latter seems more likely, with The Gentleman/The Big Man being Norman's identity when he's...... not himself,

Cooper's role could be like Jonathan Pryce's role in the GI JOE films.

Pryce had a dual role playing The President and Zartan in disguise as The President.

In this case, Cooper would be in a dual role as the original/true visage of Norman Osborn (in flashbacks) and Chameleon in disguise as Norman.

Cooper - Goblin

We know he's Norman, jury is out on him being Goblin. We'll see - they may have him die in TASM2 and then Harry blames Spidey etc

Masse - Goblin

I wish people would drop it already :)
There is no logical reason that Masse would be Goblin, it's completely wishful thinking and that's all there is to it.

I'd argue the same could be said about Khan and Talia Al Ghul. No logical reason they would cast someone as one character and have them end up being someone completely different.

Except here it kind of is logical (at least as logical as those other examples). Massee's character knew about Peter's father. Seemingly very privileged information. He had Norman's hat and he looked quite unwell (at which time we all knew "Norman Osborn was dying.")

Not really - in TASM2 Chris Cooper has been cast as Norman Osborn. What people are arguing here is for an incredibly messy setup where you have one actor cast as the head of Oscorp in flashbacks, while also in present day as an impersonator of said character and suddenly jumping to the conclusion that a completely different actor is playing said character's villainous alter-ego. See what I'm getting at here?

It's like people are suspending logic for wishful thinking

Not to mention, Khan and Talia Al Ghul were very straightforward. The former's identity was a mystery until the audience heard his name being uttered. We simply go from, 'who is this guy' to 'Khan'. The latter is simply Talia Al Ghul pretending to be a wealthy socialite. Nothing anywhere as complicated as what people are trying their hardest to believe here.

1) Who is the green goblin (first) going to be? Norman.

2) Will gwen die? Yes, but not in this film.

3) If so, who will kill her? Goblin (Norman)

4) How will gwen die, will it be like in the comics, or completely different? More or less the same, but the major factor will be Spidey thinking he saved her, when he didn't.

5) Who is Felicity Jones playing? Felicia Hardy

6) Who is the man in the shadows? The Gentleman

7) Is Jim Carrey in the movie, and if so, who is he playing? No

8) Who is Colm Feore playing? Head of security at Ravencroft

It may be wishful thinking, but dammit I wanna see Massee play Osborn. :oldrazz:

I just really want to see him in the movie, and i'm so happy that it's true (at least according to some folk around here)

the man in the shadows: richard parker? mysterio?...shame on me i always thought it was norman osborn in the end credit scene...now we know it was michael massee who also could play osborn as well but richard cooper is listed as norman. another very important character he has to be then.
