Comic Characters you want a game based around

X-Force - Gears of War type shooter, select from Cable, Dominoe, Shattersar, etc. Characters like Cannonball can be use in similiar fashion to the Hammer of Dawn or a desperation move.
My lineup would consist of:
Cable
Wolverine
X-23
Warpath
Domino
Psylocke
Deadpool

Thats a good mix of the current and last lineup. Archangel, Vanisher and Elixir would be in their as supporting NPC

I dont think the game would work as a Gears type shooter though bc only a few actually use guns. The rest are very dependent on their melee type abilities and acrobatic moves.

Maybe a Sherlock Holmes game. Similar to heavy rain, but take out all the new stuff and give him a looking glass and maybe like a 'Pipe Vision' (he smokes some opium and clues are easier to see, like mini levels maybe like Scarecrow sections of Batman: AA, but this time poisoning yourself). Bring some of the new franchise into it too so you can have some action and platform elements. I just love the setting. Make it like Grand Theft where you can get prostitues but as a mini game, and you can either be healed by banging them, or be unlucky and catch syphilis--game over.

Also, adding to this:

Get some bosses: Jack the Ripper, Mr Hyde, The Invisible Man, The Elephant Man (he would throw poo at you and be sympathetic), some random sneaky-bastard monarch, O, and some classic Holmes' villains.

A superman game using heavy rain style gameplay

A batman game using heavy rain style gameplay

A green lantern game using heavy rain style gameplay

Any superhero using heavy rain style gameplay

A green lantern WRPG.

Heavy Rain would be a terrible template for those characters.

Heavy Rain would be good for a game based around the Marvel Noir universe

Whaaaaaaat? I doubt there is a single possible better template than heavy rain. No terrible flying mechanic, no wonky combat system, or awkwardly implemented powers and abilities. Just beautifully orchestrated fight scenes that you guide along, allowing for the most immersive superhero experience ever in a game.

-Solve mysteries in the first ever real detective mechanic in a batman game

-Escape traps in a variety of different ways

-Experience every day life as the alter ego of your superhero

-Interact with the supporting cast at a level previously unheard of

-The sky is the limit for the imagination of the game designers. Never see the same GL construct twice.

-Different outcomes for the decisions you've made. Maybe you have to choose between saving two important characters?

I could go on and on.

I gotta agree with ProjectPat on this. I loved HR but I think that format would be too slow and lowkey for the characters you suggested. It might be great for the action scenes, but what about the stuff in between? I see that getting mundane and boring fast. The HR gameplay, lacks the control and action that one would want out of a superhero game. Its based around investigation and relies on walking around and talking. It might work for some characters that arent heavily reliant on their powers and abilities, but Superman and Green Lantern? Nah I dont think so. Lois Lane would be better suited for a title like that than Superman. Actually a game based in the DCU with that type of gameplay featuring the suporting characters as the main leads would work better

There's a reason there's never been a good superman game. You can't translate powers like that into a viable control scheme. It's just not possible.

Something like what I described is the closest you could get to really feeling like you're superman.

Of course, I didn't actually like heavy rain much, because I thought the characters and story were boring. A faster-paced, more action oriented approach would be genius though. The skeleton is there, it just needs to be filled in. You just have to use your imagination.

Yeah. The Heavy Rain mechanic does not work for most superheroes. I could give you maybe Batman. But any other hero that's not a detective like him, Question or any of his family of characters would make for an awful video game.

Have you played DC Universe Online? That has done a much better job at translating a Superman type character into a game, than any other before. Most notably, the flying feels intuitive and fun and actually works. It can be done. Any company looking to make one around the character, should look at what they just did

A severely gimped shell of a superman-like character. But that's not really superman is it?

o_o Just ignore him guys. This is the same guy who thinks that Anne Hathway needs to loose weight to be Catwoman.

No it isnt, but then again its not a Superman game. The flying mechanics however would work well for one

How? Superman is faster than a speeding bullet. You can't control that kind of speed.

One, just one good Iron Man game where they get his repulsors right.

An Avengers game.

There are a ton of Anime games that prove otherwise.
