I'm dying to go to one of these (plus it gives me an excuse to go back to Disneyland)...but I'm just afraid it's gotten so hugely popular now that it's just going to be way overcrowded when I try to go. I'm still recovering from the first Star Wars Celebration convention. :wow:
Back to Disneyland? Do you realize how skullcrushingly expensive THAT has gotten? $72 for just a one-day ticket for one park. :wow: And the awesome new Toy Story ride/game is in California Adventure too! :funny:

There's a reason why I only went to Disneyland when my friends (who worked there) invited me to go for free. :oldrazz:

Cosplay from ComicCon, theres a Two-face costume that looks amazing
I don't see this there. This wins hands down.

She doesn't have the thick legs. She fails on principle. :o

There were alot of nice costumes in those pictures, but the one that wins hands down is the Avatar mech suit.

i think it's getting MORE mainstream... and i don't think that's a bad thing at all.... just shows how popular it's getting and how much more acceptance of the genre things are getting.

the contract that CCI has with San Diego is up either in 2012 or 2013 and there has been talk of moving it for the past couple years

possible sites are Anaheim, Las Vegas....Anaheim does have a new or newly renovated convention center and they have not been shy about letting it known they want Comic Con there

LA is actually a pretty big contender too...

That picture of Baby Chun-Li is the most adorable thing ever.

i have to say that it has gotten a bit too mainstream, and i'm not talking about flicks/ shows outside of comics but just the genre in general. it wouldnt be unusual to have sci-fi/ fantasy/ game related projects there along with the usual comics related stuff, but things like Glee doesnt quite fit what "genre" really is, which is what the Con was for. its true that usual Con fare has gotten more high profile, thanks to fantasy and comicbook related projects doing very well at the box office, which got Hollywood's attention and thus sending their people to the Con.

with subject matters and filmic styles constantly evolving i think Comic-Con should remain a platform for projects that are not quite mainstream, for example its more for the likes of Scott Pilgrim and Sucker Punch versus something like SALT and Cowboys and Aliens.

Question: What exactly is APE?

So... there's an indie counterpart to ComicCon, yet some argue that ComicCon Proper shouldn't be mainstream?

So indie that Marvel and DC are not featured there. :oldrazz: There's a lot of horror and goth stuff. And it all fits in a single warehouse/hangar thingie.

I had a great time at comic con and will definetely go back there. It was lots of fun!!
