Well considering filming starts early next year, we should hear something this year. At the very least we should learn who the villains are, and who's cast as them.

They revealed Sandman as a villian in November of '05. That was a a year and a half before the movie came out. I expect some sort of announcement before the end of the year. Then we should get our first images and teaser trailer next July.

Wasn't Doc Ock revealed as the villain in SM2 sometime in late 02/early 03?

Actually, (if you're talking announcement), they announced him in September 2005 by accident. if you're talking a picture, then yes, you're correct. On that day, when I saw that picture, my mind exploded with excitement.
