Not just a bad story, but one that is really just false advertising. A blatant fake out. I picked up Army of Darkness: Ash Saves Obama today for laughs. The president fights deadites with the most hammy hero in horror? This has got to be good!

Nah.

The two never even meet, and Obama is a cameo character. You see the back of his head in a few panels in the first issues and he at most shows up for a page or two in the final issue. You see more of him on the cover than on the inside.

So what comics have you bought that were obviously a half ***ed rip off? One that promised one thing but gave another?

A few months ago I bought the Ultimatum trade. I asked the comic guy if the story was complete or half-assed and he wouldn't confirm or deny it was good. I guess he just wanted to sell the crap and get it off the store shelves as soon as possible. I bought it for a reduced price thinking I was getting a bargain... I'm ashamed of myself for buying it. That was so unbelievably pointless and stupid. Everything, from Wasp getting eaten by the Blob to Magneto's stupidity.

I would find a new comic shop if your asking about a product (good or bad) and the owner won't "confirm nor deny".

Batman: RIP meets the criteria big time.

The crap that passes for 'Squadron Supreme' these days. I just had to get the first issue even though I should have known after **** like Ultimate Power... there was no way it would be good.

What makes RIP even worse, in my opinion, is that for the first five parts it was pretty good. It sounded potential of being a pretty interesting story. Then, in that last part, I swear Morrison must've trying his hardest to see if he could underwhelm and under mind his own story as successfully as possible

Really what makes R.I.P such a bad story? I thought it was a cool tribute to Bruce before he's 1 year break from mainstream comics (excluding confidental) againts this James Bond-esque team of rich evil men. =p I mean yeah i know it has alot incommon with David Lynch's Twilight Peaks, but does it really make it a "ripoff"? >_>

Anyhow i guess Ultimatum is this comic. Whenever i read Ultimate Comics and the front page has the small description on Ultimatum it really sounds cool but we all know its just false misleading lol.

All-Star Batman and Robin also failed to deliver, while i love Miller's Batman universe, generally people can't seem to accept the idea of Bruce being completely nuts after 2-3 years of fightning crime alone.

Basically a lot of build up and interesting ideas that had an incredibly dissatisfying and hokey ending. Morrison turned to the whole Bat-God image he likes and this 'Batman plans for everything' stuff that was just too ridiculous.

Agreed. First 5 issues, not great, but pretty good. We see Batman challenged and we see Batman in a situation he very well might not win. And all of a sudden, Batman knew everything that was going to happen before it happened and just decided to play into it, fully knowing he was going to kick their asses anyway. Biggest waste of time and money. Honestly, Morrison's Bat-God is about the least interesting characterization of Batman i've ever read.

the story isn't over yet. R.I.P. was just the middle part of morrison's run.

I know, but I meant the arc of RIP. Even if it's just a part of his overall story, the arc could have been a lot more satisfying and less hokey.

All Star Batman & Robin
Ultimatum
Countdown
Avengers: Disassembled

Yeah i can agree R.I.P was sorta disappointing in that regard i guess. I loved how things worked out but for alot of people Batman and Son, Black Glove was building up for this particular story.

Ah well i loved the villains and the mood of the story myself. :D But you know me! Morrison lover to the very end!:awesome:

No, I wasn't talking about anything before or after. I'm talking about the single arc in Batman of RIP. The first five issues were good, very interesting kind of premise, lots of potential, then that sixth issue pretty much threw all that out the window.

I think I'm the only one who prefers the Batgod to the other interperations. The Batgod, to me, is a lot more fun to read than the Batman who is able to be jumped by common thugs. Give me the Batman with a sci-fi closet and a Bat U.FO. anyday.

Wanted. I liked the movie alot. Found it very entertaining. So I picked up the comic.

While the concept of them being supervillains is better that the Fraternity being assasins like in the film, the comic just had stupid one liners and came across like a 4th grader who just learned how to use swear words

New Universal
Freshmen
North 40
Squadron Supreme(post Ultimate Universe merge)

I suppose, but you have to admit you loved Joker's grand moment in the last issue. He freaking insults the Devil himself and mocks them with no fear. He points out how they had no true idea who they we're dealing with to begin with. I just loved that moment. Tho we can point out how cliché the crashed helicopter moment was and whatnot with Nightwing holding the cowl.

I just remembered the biggest dissapointment ever:

Unholy Union

This comic had an awesome premise:

Ghost Rider vs Darkness
Hulk vs Witchblade

What did it deliver?

Maybe four pages of action before it was stopped abruptly. It was a giant AD to sell a Top Cow only crossover. That's it!

I don't care much for Morrison's take on the Joker, but I guess that was a decent moment. But that moment was kind of diluted with the whole deal with Joker leaving in the ambulance and randomly getting hit with the Batmobile, which was kind of dumb.
