Can anyone recommend some good noir-ish comics? To give you some background on my tastes, I've already read the entire Sleeper series, I'm a fan of Warren Ellis' Fell series and I like some of Steve Niles' Cal MacDonald stories and also Denny O'Neil's The Question run. I'm looking forward to Ed Brubaker's Criminal series. Is there anything I should be reading in that genre? Please, help a brother out! :)

I usually hate just giving lists, but I don't have the time to do write-ups for these right now. But here's some essential and recommended reading:

Torso
100 Bullets
Johnny Double
Batman: Broken City
Batman: Year One
Road To Perdition
Sin City
Gotham Central
Goldfish
Jinx
Powers
Daredevil (Bendis/Maleev run)
Sam and Twitch
Alias

Cool! Thanks for the list. I've been meaning to pick up Torso, Goldfish and Jinx, since I heard they're some of Bendis' best work. I tried picking up 100 Bullets but the one issue I picked up was kind of boring, it must have been in the middle of an arc and I just couldn't figure out who the characters were and what it was about. I should have listed Sin City in the books I've read. I love those. Powers is good, but I've only read a few issues. Bendis can get a little too talky in those books. Alias rocked, though. As did Gotham Central. I'll have to give Sam and Twitch, Johnny Double and Road to Perdition a try. Thanks again!

What Elijya said plus Madrox.

Yeah, I heard Madrox is good. I liked the first few issues of the new X-Factor run. I'll check it out in TPB form.

Johnny Double was a four issue miniseries done by the same team that's on 100 Bullets - Brian Azzerrelo and Eduardo Risso. It'd be a great story to check out and if you enjoy it, look into 100B again
