People wanted the original cuts. He gave them that. If he had transfered it to DVD to polished, then people would be complaing about that.

Jeez. Are you missing the point on purpose? Those version aren't even in widescreen, like what was released in theaters. So NO, they aren't original cuts.

I have no faith in remaking this film. It's one of those B-Films that can't get a better remake today.

I think what Gilpesh is getting at is that with home entertainment technology having advanced greatly in the past 10 to 15 years, it's also gotten closer to mimicking the feel of seeing a movie in a theater. From what I understand from Gilpesh and others who have bought the Star Wars DVDs, is that the presentation of the film isn't up to date with the technology that exists for home entertainment now. I can understand how that could diminish one's enjoyment of the film.

I get it! I do. The thing is Wars haters complained that Lucas used the advanced technology to put things in that he wasn't able to back in the day & Wars haters lost there minds.

So from Luca's logic he gave people a non-evolved version of Star Wars. Not touched by updated tech. Wars haters still aren't happy.

He can't win it is as simple as that. People like Gilpish will be complaining when Lucas finally releases the long rumored 3D version of the anthology.

Well. I didn't buy them as when I started to debate getting them, I researched first and learned that it was just a cheap attempt to take my money.

He gave **** versions of the movies to people (not even 'non-evolved' versions, worse than that). And he didn't even give them the option of getting them separately, he made them buy the Special Editions first and then screwed them over.

Also you keep saying 'Wars haters' like it means something in this context. How does it make people haters to want the original movies they fell in love with to be released? Stop being dense.

I own't even consider this a remake . Without Arnold's classic lines this will have no association with the original film unless it's unintentionally funny.

But what's the point if you're not going to release the best possible quality version of the film? That's the issue a lot of fans have. To hear most fans tell it, even on DVD, the quality of the original films isn't nearly as good as it could be, in terms of picture and sound. We're not talking about added CG elements that ALWAYS looked out of place! We're talking about the quality of the sound, the grain of the film, the sharpness of the images. How vibrant certain colors should look in certain scenes, etc. Something that looks as close to how it looked the first time it was released in theaters in '77, '80, or '83.

He can't win it is as simple as that. People like Gilpish will be complaining when Lucas finally releases the long rumored 3D version of the anthology.

I still don't have enough faith in 3D conversion technology to really say that I'm even excited about the prospect. I look at it the same way I look at colorized films. An utter waste of time.

The original is an unintentionally hilarious opening salvo in Arnies rise to action movie icon, I have no issues with this remake, it's clear they are taking a different approach and just using the name b/c it's a good marketable title, and will help them flog a special edition of the Arnie version while promoting this.

to me, if you take out the cheese, then Commando as a concept is just kinda generic.

To be honest, again, if this remake sucks, the original shall live on.

But seriously, why remake you standard "daughter gets kidnapped, dad goes nutz" story? Hell, we already had that recently with Taken. In fact there are so many movies and TV shows that used that same theme it's obvious that it's a cash grab at name recognition. It'll only invite comparisons and no matter how good this movie turns out people will say it sucks in comparison to the original.

You know what. I'm not surprised. I'm just not surprised. Of course some idiot producer's gonna watch all of these "Good-Bad" movies and decide to reboot them. But, I wonder who's gonna play Matrix in this one... Like 'Bad Superman' mentioned, probably Dwayne Johnson. However, my first guess was honestly Sam Worthington. [Probably because I just read about one of the extras featured on the upcoming 'Clash of the Titans' Blu-Ray: "Sam Worthington: An Action Hero For the Ages"... Yeah. No comment.]

Well, at least people won't whine about Loeb writing it.

I'm cool with this remake. Thought it had some good idea that were just not put together well. I really only want one scene from the orginal to land in the remake. Which is the scene where the girl is trying to save Arnie and pulls out the rocket, and instead of hitting the police van she has it backwards and it blows up a mail box. I can't remember the last time I laughed during an action movie before I saw this on tv.
