Common Sense as Roadblock??!!?

Asian karate dudes? Plenty of those.

Asian average joes? Not so much.

Last time I remember an average Asian guy in any movie was Grandma's Boy with the self deprecating guy who always wanted everyone to blame him for everything that went wrong. How very seppuku-like.

I've never seen him act in anything except American Gangster, and he only had like 2 lines, so I can't really say if he sucks or not. But Roadblock? That's like casting Steve Buscemi to play Hulk. Not Banner...Hulk.

He is real good in the few scenes he has in Smokin Aces

Thats not true at all. It's anytime a BLACK RAPPER is inserted in a flick thats not all black, it's because they trying to appeal to us.

Thank you, and since I was an old school GI JOE fan who has nice memories of when the 5 part series aired back in 1984 I am ready to post a big middle finger next to the Hollywood sign. First of all RoadBlock was the strongest, and some cliched out rapper will just be the last nail of the coffin for this film.

wikipedia says

Roadblock is one of the biggest and strongest members of G.I. Joe. He can carry a fully-loaded M2 Browning machine gun which can weigh up to 134 lbs. Despite working in infantry, he still maintains his passion for making good food and indulges in it while engaging in his secondary duty. As a habit, Roadblock speaks in rhyme.

Thats probably why they think they can sneak in a rapper. If so why not cast Cool J to play roadblock.

oh well you guys decide....

what about Tyler Perry for Roadblock?

...and with just six words, ObakeTora loses all credibility.

LL would be a better pick if they just had to get a rapper, but I prefer someone like Terry Crews if RB really is in the movie.

Oh. Okay. When you come with such a compelling and well thought out argument, clearly you are correct.

I don't FEEL LIKE having another SHH! racial debate right now and I really don't feel like wasting brain cells trying to explain the obvious.

Anytime they cast a hot, young star who is not an actor by trade it is to appeal to a wider audience. Everyone knows that.

AND, since Common Sense is a young black male rapper it is safe to assume they want to appeal to young black males more than they would under usual circumstances.

:whatever: Yeah. Whatever. Who said anything about a racial debate? You were the one who came in with the nonsense that black kids weren't into G.I. Joe.

If they were trying to appeal to "young black males" so hard they would go with a more popular rapper than Common. Either way, it's a bad casting choice. The dude is nothing like Roadblock.

lol@ people picking LL though. Dude pretty much played a similar character in dozens of flicks.

Uninspired ****s....

Common is 35 so his hardly a young rapper. Anyway Black people are not going to see films just because it has a black rapper in it. Thats just patronizing. I'm not saying thats what your saying but that is what some people seem to think.

btw LMAO@ people saying they dont want Common because he's a "cliched rapper" (really?) but would want Uncle L (Cool J).

Im mean Im whatever, but lets see how he's like as an action star. He did Smoking Aces and he's got Wanted and that Kill Game joint with Keanu. Its all good, sometimes you cant get Ving. Dude's too busy explaining why his dogs ate Mexican Gardeners like a 12 year old's homework.

We're all interchangeable. :o

Common is alredy Green Lantern. I Doubt he could be in two franchises.

Plus, Heavy Duty is there, because there are legall problems involving Roadblock. Plus, he never appeared in any script Draft.

Sound's like fake to me.

There is so much uncertainty with that film, I gotta say.

I've always been a fan of Com Sense but I think LL would've been better suited to play Roadblock. Why? Because Roadblock is a heavy gunner, and Com Sense is too thin to be believable as someone who carried machine guns. LL is at least built for the role in a believable way, without having a hulking stereotypical wrestler built figure. He's like Ving Rhames but younger.
