Horror Companion - New Line Horror Produced by Zach Cregger

This one wasn't really on my radar but the praise has me intrigued.

Well, you can definitely feel shades of Barbarian here- the marketing was not just smart to mention that, but it shows. Despite how you can tell what the premise is from the trailers, it doesn't make the reveal any less surprising, not to mention further reveals that I did not expect. There's a great message here about free will and control, but also how we try to manipulate others into believing that their lives only have meaning because of us.

It's a quick, enjoyable watch and great dark comedy with everyone giving dynamite performances. Sophie Thatcher, who I haven't seen in anything prior to this, shows great range as Iris, Jack Quaid shines as the unassuming boyfriend, and the rest of the cast leaves enough of an impression for you to get their motivations behind their actions. Would highly recommend.

Also, these people clearly never watched Terminator.

For the longest time, I thought this was going to be directed by Zach Cregger. The direction admittedly isn't at that level, even though it's very competent, but the script is excellent, and the cast kills it. Sophie Thatcher is really making a name for herself in horror films, particularly in this and Heretic.

I enjoyed this movie, nice twists and turns. It stays on your mind after watching. Companion and One of Them Days have marked a good start to 2025's movies for me.

saw it sunday, I loved it I have become a fan of both Thatcher and Quaid even more cause of this.

Between this and Scream, Jack Quaid is getting typecast. But he’s damn good at it.

I feel that he gets more of a spectrum of nerdy guys. Granted, Lower Decks and My Adventures of Superman have been my main love of Quaid

God, what a great movie. Even having watched the trailers, it was fun pick up the tidbits in the beginning, and I don't feel I missed out on anything. They did a good job of hiding all the other stuff, though, I commend them on that.

I am, however, now traumatized by a certain face that I can't help but associate with Boimler now, and I will keep getting retraumatized whenever I watch this movie.

I also chuckled at Quaid listening to “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls, considering who starred in the film that song accompanied.

It was a great film.

I first saw Thatcher in The Heretic , but she really got to stand out here.

What an actress .

I feel like a 90 day theatrical window like Sean Baker brought up last night is a tad unrealistic after how much the studios have whittled away at it, but… 18 days??

Couldn’t even make it a full month?

Its doing 3 million this weekend. With some actual big movies incoming. I'm not sure how much longer it was going to be in theaters anyway.

Great film. Perfect viewing for Valentine's Day haha.

The issue is people have been trained to wait to watch non-event films at home because they know they’ll be able to rent them in a week or two.
