I did a virus scan earlier and it found something called "Artemis Trojan" it didn't delete it, but it quarantined it. I’ve read that’s a pretty dangerous virus, but something else is troubling me.

I have McAfee, and went under the Manage Network tab, and it gives a tree of IP addresses. Every time I’ve checked before, there were three, and I know whose they are.

Yet now I check and there are five, the two new ones have question marks over them, where as the known ones have an "M" from the McAfee logo (we all use).

One thing that confuses me is the two new IP addresses are similar to the provider IP address that connects me to the internet, (the first seven digits are the same) But I'm not sure how similar it can be for different people, or if everyone's first seven digits are the same.

If anyone can, could I have an explanation as to why two more IP addresses would add on?

I'd really appreciate it.

Ok, I found a way to look up what both the IPs were and they're from something called iana (http://www.iana.org/)

And what I got out of it is apparently it's helpful?

I'm beginning to think it's not a threat. Am I right?

I ran a scan and it detected 113 items. I can't tell what these files are, what is this finding that McAfee doesn't.

I ran multiple scans on McAfee after it quarantined the virus and ever since it's said I'm clean, I'm confused why I paid $40 for McAfee and it doesn't get these.

This program also says my system health is low, that has me pretty worried, how legit is this?

Thanks for any help I get.

its pretty legit, it saved my sisters laptop from total annihilation from some Trojan

Are there any free programs that do this so I don’t have to pay another $30?

Next there'll probably be something this one doesn't get charging even more.

wait did you get the free version of Malwarebytes?

Yeah, but it only cleans the first five, after that it says to register to clean the rest.

I figure this is the best spot to put this.

My gf's computer's fan has been getting really loud at times. It will be fine at first and then randomly it will go into overdrive. The computer is only a year old and we were wondering if the fan just needs to be replaced or if it could be something else.

Also, I wanted to know if this was true or just a false rumour. Is it better to always leave your computer on and let it go into sleep mode or is it better to constantly turn it off and on when you're done with it or going to work?

The fan would be going into over drive because the cpu is overheating and the computer is trying to cool it down, i had a similar problem on a laptop, i just took it apart and blew all the dust off the fan that was causing it to slow down, and in turn make the cpu get hotter, which made the fan then work even harder...... so give it a clean see if it helps

Also i turn my pc off every night have done since i was a kid, makes no difference sleep mode or off.... save money with it off ;)

Thanks for the reply.

My gf has already pulled off the side panel a few times to spray any dust out with canned air. If it keeps up, I guess we just might have to take it in to someone. I just don't want the damn thing to break or crash. It's only a year old and I literally just finished paying it off about a week ago.

i never leave my computer on overnight but i know people who do. especially with a laptop that seems like it'd be more detrimental to the cooling system

You could replace the cpu fan yourself which would be cheaper than what it would cost to take it to a repair shop. Unscrew the fan from the cpu cooler & take the fan to a computer store & get a fan that is the same or compatible with your computer & screw the new one back on, hook up the wire into the motherboard, plug in the power cord & see if it spins & you are ready to rock. Be sure to run a diagnostic test on the new cpu fan once you get your computer set back up to test the fan out.
