The technology exists to create some of the effing awesome crazy ideas Oliver Stone has for a Conan movie.
Check out the documentary on the Conan DVD,

Just looking at how Frazetta depicted Conan; he has a grizzled, worn face - kinda like Daniel Craig.

They need to look at people who look like that - we dont want no prettyboys playing Conan.

Once again, Conan goes from 18-45 years old in the original stories, so I want an actor that can cover that range. I don't want someone cast in their 40's who's face looks like a cigarette & sun damage superhighway.

Crank 2.

Anywho, it all depends on how they're handling Conan's character. If he's a brutal warrior like he should be, I think they're much better off going with someone who looks bad ass and experienced...like Ray Stevenson.

If they want to go with a young Conan kind of story, I'd hope they'd at least cast someone who looks in their 30's like Sam Worthington or someone. Not saying I want Sam Worthington for the role, but someone in that age range.

I just don't want some pretty boy like Channing Tatum for Conan. He shouldn't look like he's 20-something if you ask me.

if they go good looking route go hugh jackman type of guy who can be battle torn and still have the youth and looks

Heh oh yeah, Crank 2.

Anyway...I was going to give the Son of the Beach guy a chance, but I'm just happy it's just a rumor.
I want a black haired, buff-but-slightly-thinner-than-Arnold Conan, like out of the Barry Windsor Smith or John Buscema comics.

That's fair enough;

To be fair, I was only basing my observation off 1 Frazetta Conan piece (below), and, just in case there's been any confusion, I wasnt actually suggesting Craig for the role:-

Craig is a bit small & sinewy to play Conan.

Nivek, no ones suggesting Daniel Craig.

All I said was someone with a grizzled and worn face, like Daniel Craig.

This seems kind of funny to me if true. So the dude who's played Arnold Schwarzenegger in a biopic is now gonna start doing remakes of Arnie-flicks?

I agree, no 20-something prettyboys for Conan.

So, who's supposed to be directing this?

...Marcus Nispel("Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Pathfinder", "Friday The 13th").

Well, how did the original novels depict him? If he was younger and not as buff, that would be faithful to what was written.

Pick up the Dark Horse GN's. They show a very leaner, taller Conan, not the bulky body builder type.

Yeah, it's nice to know that you can get away with that and not always rely on the Arnold sized Conan. And with that size, you can't get any good actors out of that.

Get an actor and bulk him the hell up if neccesarry. He doesn't have to be body builder huge. As long as he's a badass

Go back and reread the thread. There are a couple good descriptions of literary Conan by myself and others on previous pages.

If I didn't create the thread, I let others do my work for me. :o

The following is from a poster at imdb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816462/board/thread/143099836?d=143687591&p=1#143687591

It is a perfectly neutral sign.

The director has only been aboard for weeks. NO movie has anything of importance to announce that early on.
What should they announce?

"The biggest news is that we have hired a local gaffer company in Romania to do sets, and half of the crew will be romanian, right now we are in contact with a local agency to make sure we get talented people. Also, we have been able to find lodging for most of the crew, but are looking outside of town to house the rest. We've limited the number of available catereres down to two possibilites, but won't make a final decisison until we are there.

In terms of what you fans might care about, the casting director is working of finding potential actors for the lead roles, auditioniong is scheduled to commence next week - no clue who will play Conan as of now. The script is still being tweaked, I hope it'll be done by the time camera's roll, though it may not be."

Yesh, comic con is an opportunity missed, but the director was simply locked TOO LATE for them to have enough preproduction to annnounce anything of consequence.

Hold Brillan!
