The now obvious conservative slant of DC Comics and their creators has definitely destroyed a lot of interest in the comics line for me. And their writers are, in many cases, impossible to follow on Twitter if you're liberal. When a writer mocks your opinions and beliefs, it becomes very difficult to care about their books.

I see what you're doing.
In all seriousness, from the looks of it based on online response and sales, seems like DC's doing a better job of this legacy diversity thingie
ie those damn liberal writers :argh:

Presumably because they haven't gone around trashing the existing heroes. Jal, John, Guy and Kyle have a book and Jessica & Simon have a book. And those books consistently sell at the same level. I am massively disappointed by how they're handling Blue Beetle, though.

As for the thread itself, I just don't get it. Look at Chuck Dixon, Mr. Clinton Cash. I just can't bring myself to be offended by his political views, no matter how hard I try. And here I am looking into ordering a TPB of his Nightwing run :o

I think DC still has a huge way to go with diversity, the challenge is threading the needle though. The diversity needs to be done in such a way that it isn't done to be seen as diversity, it just needs to be natural, fluid storytelling.
