I'm really enjoying Season 3 so far... but a couple things come to mind as far as consistency goes.

1) Angela Petrelli's ability to see the future. I don't recall her doing this before Season 3. And it makes me question her actions in previous seasons.

2) The Haitian now has the ability to nullify the powers of those around him. So, why was Nathan able to escape from him and Mr. Bennett by flying away in season one? Did the Haitian's power evolve to this since then? Or does his power not work on those who were injected with the formula and given powers?

I'm sure there's other consistency questions that people want to talk about... let's do that.

Heroes has 2 rules as far as time travel goes. 1) The past cannot be changed. We learned that in Season One when Hiro tried to save that waitress. 2) The future can be changed. It's done a pretty good job sticking to that.

Still, time travel doesn't really have anything to do with the Angela Petrelli seeing the future and Nathan's escape from Bennett & the Haitian....

That's because it has never been revealed until this season. They always hinted that Angela had a power, but they never outright said what it was until this season.

Remember back in season one the constant dreams that Peter had of himself exploding? The dream that he had of the accident with Nathan and Heidi. That was because he had absorbed his mothers ability.

Knowing this, if you go back and watch the first two seasons, it's makes viewing the entirety of both seasons change. It explains her and Linderman's through process. The "Lives of many can be sacrificed for the greater good." She was able to see the future, that's why she was so hellbent on making sure things went the way they were suppose too. Or was Peter blowing up really suppose to happen to prevent everything that happened in season two and now this season?!

^ I'll have to go back and watch the first two season again. Makes me wonder if the writers had that planned all along or if they just through it in there cause it made sense and they wanted Angela Petrelli to be more than just a *****.

Well since he was under Angela's orders later in the season, I assumed he had orders not to bother using his power on Nathan.

Well, the way this power has been shown in season three makes it seem like it's a power he doesn't control. Kinda like Claire's ability to heal or Peter's ability to absorb others powers. Plus, it wouldn't make sense to have him not use this power on Nathan... if they know Nathan can fly, and they know the two guys going after him can't, why would they tell him not to use it if they were trying to capture him?

It was pretty clear that Angela had a power, and that they purposely weren't revealing it. They definitely had her power planned from the beginning. Her power is the same as Peter's dreamstate ability that he displayed throughout season 1.

Now? That's been his power since his first arrival... could be any number of reasons why Nathan got away. Until they give us an actual explanation though it is a pretty large inconsistency. Unless the Haitian purposely let him go for some reason.

The only time I recall in the first season when the Haitian nullified someone else's power was in the bar when Parkman was unable to read his thoughts. Seeing as though back then the Haitian was more known for erasing people's memories, I tallied that up to some sort of mind-manipulation type of ability.

It doesn't make sense that the Haitian would purposely let him go... especially if Bennett was his partner and Bennett would know everything the Haitian is capable of. Letting Nathan go would not have gone over well for Bennett. So yeah, I think it does need some further explanation. As it stands in Season 3, it looks like this ability is one that the Haitian can't control and is always active.

The Haitian is able to manipulate and control his ability. In season one during the "Five Years Gone" episode, Matt and The Haitian had Hiro hostage and Matt was able to read Hiro's mind while the Haitian was there.

So he can turn it on and off.

^ Ah, yes. Thank you for reminding me of that.

So why the hell didn't he use it against Nathan at the time? What was the Haitian's hidden agenda? :)

He was working for Angela, so his loyalty was to Angela over Noah. I'm assuming Angela didn't want her son bagged and tagged by The Company, and brought in as a potential agent or killed. So she ordered The Haitian to let Nathan get away.

Is there anything you don't have an answer for, SuperT?

At the time though, Angela was what - fourth in line to have control of the company? At the time, the person in command was Linderman, then Bob, then Kaito, then Angela, correct? Linderman and Angela wanted Nathan to be Senator, Bob was no where to be seen, and Kaito was looking out for his own company. So who did Noah get his orders from? I suppose Noah could've just been acting on his own and picking up any super-human that showed up on his radar... but whatever...

He got his orders from Thompson didn't he?

^ I don't know man. This is probably one of those things that we'll never have a definate answer to.

We SAW Bennet take orders from Thompson. We SAW the Haitian take orders from Angela. There's no inconsistency there at all.

Giving Angela precog visions does seem retroactive, but it does work, because of the nature of the power. All it does is provide a framework for actions and foresight, it doesn't necessarily empower a person... and thusly, it doesn't matter that we never saw her use the ability or reveal it. Clearly she said that she had one when she first met Claire.

The only thing form S1 that I've seen that can be really painted as inconsistent is Time Travel. Typically, time travel either shows you still existing in the present (Hiro met Future Hiro who had always been there in 5 years Gone) or being missing in the intervening time ( like Hiro was when he saw the bomb explode in episode 2). It could be explained that Hiro's powers allow him to do both... in episode 2 he traveled by daydreaming as opposed to concentration. It could be explained by some new time travel theory if need be.

But the bottom line is, that it hasn't been explained. And while there may have been plans to explain it eventually, those plans were dropped when the show lost its scope. Every other aspect of time travel, as far as I could tell, was consistent S1. Now if we want inconsistencies, we do have two other seasons to look at... (innocent whistle).

Huh... I don't remember this stuff happening. I really need to go back and watch the first two seasons again.
