Costume.

Thanks Moon... needed a link with an "offical spokesperson" talking about it. Geoff Johns' quote "It's a very, very good chance." worked lol. Needed it for an article I was writing. Also... don't ask me why (i was bored) but I added the possiblity of a series starting around the time of the film release to the marketing section of the film's page on Wikipedia.

Sheesh.....I can't stand that concept art of the Thor suit.

It looks like a cheap halloween costume from Party City! LOL

Terrible!

lol, You've wrote that exact statement atleast 4 times so far. I think Thor looks good btw.

yea like i just posted over in the news thread thor/cap suits look just fine taking elements from the comics, as well as updating other stuff. Plus its just a cgi rendering of the costume. We are not looking at it on the real actors or the real materials the costume is. Sure it may look a bit cheesy or plastic like but it isnt in real life.

DC should release some kind of artwork to build up some excitement for GL.

Marvel didn't release anything. That was artwork made for the licensees and leaked.
We can hope in the next few days we'll see something similar leaked for GL. Anyway we had the conceptual art for the Lanterns, we already know how the costume will look like.

Ah, I figured they were officially released. Either way, there's bound to be some of the same promo art for GL... let's hope DC acts like a generous uncle and releases a couple.

Nice. Is he wearing a color or is it just me?

Guess they're going with Kyle's ring design. Glad to see we're getting the traditional green on white chest symbol, though. Obviously too early to comment, but I'm not too worried about Hal's costume. That concept art for Sinestro still has me spooked though.

Kyle's ring?
This ring style, right down to the emerald jewel in the center predates Kyle by some 20 years.

Dig that groovy Vulcan Green Lantern!

And for the most part (with some variety) it became the standard ring style for the entire Corps for the next few decades.

If this artwork is really based on or sugestive of what will appear in the final movie, it appears the designers of the ring anyway were fans of the Neal Adams -> Mike Grell's run on GL from the mid 70's.

I'll confess to only recently getting into Green Lantern, so I'm not fully aware of the full history. Either way, I don't have a problem with the ring.

I'm glad they went with the transparent eyes as opposed to the all white eyes. I really liked how that was executed in First Flight.

The only thing im worried about is the face mask other then that it looks cool.

yea we are going to get more soon either something with the licensing expo next week or next month at comic con.

Reynolds in the motion capture suit and word is we will NEVER see him on set with the suit on.

After zooming in on this pic I noticed what appears to be black eyeliner around Reynolds' eye, which would explain the aviator glasses since to make a mask look like it goes all the way to the eye you have to paint the area around the eyes black (and I knew that YEARS before Kick Ass came out, so HA!).

I've know that since Batman 89 when Keaton had black paint around his eyes. It's really noticeable in Batman Returns in the finale. Right before Keaton rips his cowl off, you can see that he doesn't have it on so that his face look normal after it's gone.

I seriously hope not, I think that would look terrible, especially on a suit supposedly generated by light. It's one thing for these more Earth-bound street level heroes embellishing their costumes with a little dab of eye make up. But this isn't a suit he's putting on in a changing room or with prep time at the vanity in his secret lair. This is something the ring generates and throws up around him in an instant, in any situation, while he's running, in mid flight dropping out of a plane, or while leaping off the tarmac into space! The eye make up can't just suddenly be there.

Besides I don't really see the eyeliner in that pic. anyway. It just looks like the shadow cast in his eyesockets from the shades.

Since the suit is for the most part going to be CG anyway, I think there's no reason they can't bring it to the mask, and extend it to a proper edge around the eyes, or even better throw some translucent white tinted lenses over the eye holes, so you get the feel of the comic, but also it allows a hint of the eye movement and expression through the translucent lenses.
Also since everything on him is made out of pure energy fueled by his own thoughts and will, it can change and reshape slightly with his expressions, something you couldn't do with a stiff real material mask but only in animation or CG.

The reason movies leave the eyesockets open, and then fill in the rest with make up, is so you can capture the expression of the eyes, the little squints, or wider awe or surprise, or scowls or inquisitiveness etc..
This is not a problem with a partially animated or CG mask, because it can move right with the edge of the eyes and capture all of that..

I've always wondered why Burton didnt just add a cut there instead of showing the plain eyes under the mask for a few seconds- Mask with black eyes, cut to selina, cut back to bruce tearing off mask (no pause beforehand). Or even cut to Selina while Mask is being torn off, cut back to Bruce as he finishes tearing off mask. I wonder if it was his nod to a Ed Wood kind of screw up.

not really sure how i feel about this:
