Costume.

timstuff you are probably right about eyeliner there around his eyes or marking for where the eye mask is placed on his face or something too.

not really sure how i feel about this:

hal jordan: ribbed for our pleasure?

I like that. The more armor the better.

will probably have something at the licensing expo but it could be more just regular toylines and maybe some details of the upcoming film line. As for real stuff for the film it will probably be held off for comic con.

As for the ribbed design it was probably to add more texture to the look of the costume, like the brick pattern in the raimi spidey costume for example and all that.

if he's armored that's fine, (not a fan myself), but when you say stuff like 'the more armor the better' you'll regret saying stuff like that once you see him walking around like a bulky space-medieval knight.

It's the ring that protects him and makes the uniform anyway, so I don't even know why he'd need armor.

if his mind thinks armor for protection, then the uniform will develop as armor

dont know if this was posted here but you know whatever i think its real spacey looking

id like the first one of it wasnt so armored

Exactly. The suit will protect him. And one of the most obvious ways it can protect him is by being armor-like. He's not gonna be using force fields for everything.

the suit aura itself is the armor isnt? but if Hal thinks armor is srmor plating, then his suit will look like armor plating

totally for gl he doesnt need armor or what not when he has the ring. but yea its not likely to be armor a nd it will look like fabric with patterns on it for texture.

what's so "ivan reis" about that suit design? i'm surprised geoff johns signed off on this. it doesn't look alien or convey the power of the ring.

there isn't even an official pic of the suit so I don't know what you're talking about.

With the way they've got this CGI suit planned, I'm thinking they might be going for some sort of similar effect to that used for Green Lantern in DC Universe vs Mortal Kombat -

Theres some sort of wierd green tint over his entier suit.

That's supposed to be the protective aura of the ring. Its pretty cool but it will hurt our eyes after a while i'm afraid. I'd rather it only appears when GL is taking a hit, like those starship energy shields in Star Wars.

They are adding a little bit of ribbing/padding for texture on the uniform.

Flat non-textured material will look bad in the CG, giving it some padding and ribs will make it look a lot better.

We're not talking Alan Scott in Kingdom Come levels of armor here, just something that makes the suit look a little thicker in places.

Something along the lines of the leaked Capt. America concepts. Maybe a little less.

If Iron Man is lvl 10 armor and Thomas Jane Punisher is Lvl 1 armor. And Capt. A Concept is around lvl 6.

Green Lantern should be about a lvl 3 or 4. Just showing that the uniform has some meat to it.

yea they will probably do the standard aura/glow thing with his powers protecting him in the film.
