Costume.

people still dont get it about the mask right?

your argument is that the mask is like a second skin right? did you ever see what kind of skin masks Rick Baker and Stan WInston did in the last 20 -30 years? the 100% same green mask could be done as a layer on reynolds skin. even the part around the eyes . Baker and Winston studio could even make it look like the mask and skin are blured together. then Sony would add those green energy lighting on top of it. it would be cheaper then the CGI mask. fact. i know my facts.

so f.... again. its not CGI because it couldnt be made practical. its CGI because WB and DC wanted to be able to change the mask in post production if they didnt like it. this is of course throwing money out of the window. there comes a time when you say '' this is the final design''.

enough.
Why do you care if they throw money out of the window? Seriously, i dont think they re stupid enough to flush money down the toilet for no reason.

Clearly the costume was great and one of the best parts of the movie. I just loved that moment where he touches his skin, trying to understand what that was.

Clearly you're the sole apologist for this PoS film.

I guess everyone on this board and the critics must be trolling then.

Anyone who has a different opinion then you must clearly be a troll.

Wow.

No, he is a troll. He also thinks that Chris Nolan has been the one masterminding every decision on Man of Steel, even though he is busy with The Dark Knight Rises, and has stated he hasn't been hands on at all, that it is Zack's film.

He was also blaming Geoff Johns for Hal's characterization, despite the fact Green Lantern: Secret Origin was finished after the Green Lantern script was handed in, and it was before he was appointed CCO of DCE. Meaning he had no contact with the film at the time, refusing to blame characterization on the actual writers.

I think I'm in the minority that loves this translation of the suit.

It looks out of this world, it's supposed to. It looks pretty much like what a suit made of light would look on somebody.

He stated he was stepping back some time back, but he never said that he was never hands on.

Nolan fulfilled his job (approach, vision, story, casting) and now it's ZS's job to work out the logistics and put it onscreen.

You do realize Geoff Johns worked on the script. Marc G. and Michael Green admitted they even turned to Johns for direction.

Being busy and leaving it to Zack:

Christopher Nolan said:
What I'm doing on that is that I hired a great director to take it on and it's more his problem than mine hopefully," Nolan said. "I'm going to be very busy, but I'm super-excited to watch Zack's movie when it's done.

Casting of Cavill:

Zack Snyder said:
Other actors put that suit on, and it’s a joke, even if they’re great actors, Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go ‘Wow. Okay: This was Superman.

You do realize Geoff Johns worked on the script. Marc G. and Michael Green admitted they even turned to Johns for direction.

You mean Marc Goldenburg? That's who Geoff spoke with.

And no, they were asking things like:

Geoff Johns said:
We worked a lot on the mythology, making sure that its foundation, which is about overcoming fear, and the core characters were represented. What is Sinestro's real motivation? Why is he so driven? What are the attributes of the Green Lantern Corps' and Guardians (of the Universe) that you want to accentuate?"

He gave some direction. He never wrote the script.

Being busy and leaving it to Zack:

Like I said, that was after he already worked out the approach, vision and approved of the Goyer script. All that was left was for Snyder to put Nolan's Superman reinterpretation onscreen.

Casting of Cavill:

Cavill was a favorite of Nolan. Henry's name was considered during BB despite not getting an audition.

It's more than obvious Nolan had a hand in that casting.

Snyder was present for the audition, but he wasn't the deciding factor. The studio is VERY hands on with this project and they wouldn't have gone with Cavill if Nolan didn't approve.

The studio is pretty much going by whatever Nolan wanted for MoS. He was the quality control when they were envisioning and casting this thing.

You mean Marc Goldenburg? That's who Geoff spoke with.

Marc Guggenheim

He gave some direction. He never wrote the script.

That's what I always said, direction. That was John's purpose. Characterization is part of that.

You also said casting. Nolan was the middle man. Goyer's story, Snyder's direction, Nolan's name.

I'm not gonna deny that. Nolan recommended him and was there for the first audition. But if Zack didn't like him, there was not a damn thing Chris could have done about it.

What? Nolan wanted to not be the focus of the behind the scenes. He'd got Batman, he doesn't want Superman. And I imagine he would want the same for the reinvention of Batman.

Marc Guggenheim

Poo! I'm getting the name wrong now! I meant Michael Goldenberg.

That's what I always said, direction. That was John's purpose. Characterization is part of that.

Geoff gave the why's and the how's, not the what's.

After watching the movie I like the costumes. The mask couldve been real and touched up with CGI but the costume was fine IMO.

I guess I'm not going to see GL.....

I waited 10 years for this movie to come out!

CG mask instead of a physical mask with CG highlights was just a stupid mistake and a waste of time for the animators.

if they ever do a JLA, they're going to have to stick to this time consuming process amongst the already worn out budget.

trying to make the suit look are real as possible but not so much that it defeats the purpose = animators nightmare imo.

and a huge waste of money overall.

what a bunch of fools.

they coulda' done a physical suit, and for the energy veins highlight those in purple, then replace the purple with CGI effects in post.

they could have put him in a green suit and then decided last minute to toss cg on it lol

Don't let other people's opinions become your own.
I know that there's still a large amount of negative reviews but whatever, I'm still seeing this movie. It looks good, I don't mind if the story's a little weak, it looks like it has good action, I know it'll be entertaining for sure.

Same goes for the Transformers movies, were people expecting Oscar masterpieces? How deep can they get? They're about cars that transform into fighting robots. I went into the cinemas expecting an entertaining movie and that's exactly what I got.

He's being a troll in every thread, here and in the Superman thread. Spreading pessimism everywhere and im glad im not the only one who mentioned that. Not only that but his blind love for SR just makes it all worse. And he`s a guy with a GL avatar...

Actually, an animator's worst nightmare is not having a job. I can attest to this. :o

Sinestro's suit was the best of the lot and didn't seem CGI at all. They should've gotten Hal and Abin Sur's suits the same.

The first 5 minutes of action dealing with Parallax being release and Abin being killed look like something from a playstation 3 game.

They could've easily gotten a non-CGI version of Sinestro's suit and gotten Reynolds to wear that.
