What do you think of the costumes?

  • PERFECT!

  • They're good, they could have been alittle more faithful.

  • They work I guess.

  • I hate them.

I'm just not seeing what the big deal is here. I'm a PURIST and I don't get the freaking out.

It's close enough. It's NOT Batman with nipples. It just isn't.

Apart from Comedian and Rorschach, they look absoloutely terrible. If you stand Night Owl and Ozymandias next to each other they'd look like Schumacher's Batman and Robin.

Absoloutely not what I was expecting. This sucks so hard.

I don't understand what problem people could possibly have with Silk Spectre.

I personally never invisioned the costumes to be shiny leather. Silk Spectre looks okay, I just wasn't expecting a shiny leather suit.

I absoloutely cannot believe Ozymandias has nipples.

From what I can remember Night Owl is a play on Batman - -

NO! WAIT!!!!

The Blue Beetle.

NEVER MIND I had a theory about the suit. damn, I have to re-read this book again, it's been 2 months already and I can't get my tie straight.

But heres a thought. Night Owl is a tech-y guy, hell he build the Owl-Bus so why wouldn't he build a tech-y suit rather than a spandex one? I would Imagen that this guy with all this tech-y know-how that he would want to improve the suit doesn't anyone remember the other costume shot we got..I forget where I saw it but it had zac standing buy it with a thumbs up...if I find it again I'll post it - if someone doesn't post it before me. but at any rate, if the world is gritty as zac tells us it is in the book then I would assume that Old Owlz would build a suit that could take a beating or two...then on the other hand, perhaps this look of the suit is phase 2 when he gets back into the game...just a thought or two.
Then theres Ozy. The nipples, okay yeah with the batman and robin bomb still fresh in our minds it seems like a bad idea, but think about it.. it makes cents. The guy follows Greek mythology. is whole idea is based on that, so with the Greeks throwing' nips on their armor why in the George w. bush world would he not be faithful to the Greek look?

It's only been eleven years....;)

HOLY F**K

OH MY GOD HYPERVENTILATION

COMEDIAN-10/10
Nite owl-A little bizarre... 6/10
Rorschach-10/10
Silk Spectre-10/10
Ozymandias-....Nipples. 5/10

I LOVE SNYDER

CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE MAKE ME A GIF AVY OF ALL THEIR HEADS?!?!?!

PLEASE

You guys realize Ozzymandus costume is a mix of Roman and Egyptian armors, which sometimes imitated body details likes nipples and belly buttons.

It's hard to say until we see more of it and from other angles, but I'm personally not too keen on the kinky straps/bondage theme it seems to have (going solely by this first pic). It looks ok enough, just the suspenders on leather boots seems a little OTT for me. Also looks like it might have a collar type thing too....

Ozymandias though...I'm trying not to be bothered by it, but all I'm getting when I look at that pic is a caption saying "Hello, Boys". I think the pose ain't helping there either...

I just hate that they went with the "sculpted muscle" look. It's not so bad on Night Owl (I still don't like it) but it looks absolutely stupid on Ozymandias.

Comedian and Rorcshach look amazing. They nailed them. Silk Spectre looks pretty good too.

Now I want to see Dr. Manhattan.

It doesn't look anything like something a guy could build though. Like a lot of the movie Batsuits, it looks like it was made by a team of costume designers.

It doesn't even look like something he aquired and modified.

And it looks like something from 2008, not the 70s or 80s.

Just as with Batman, there's no reason it couldn't have been made of a tough looking fabric with a bit of simple armour here and there.

Also, Niteowl's costume is SUPPOSED to look a bit dorky. That's kind of the point.

I think the suit looks cool enough, I've given up ever seeing a more gritty, simpler take on a Batsuit so I can't really expect one for Niteowl, but people's complaint that it's too slick or whatever are completely valid.

The problem some people have with them (and me to, see my sig) is that it conjure up the "nipplegate" controversy that surrounded the Schumacher's Batman movies which was sillylooking.

And if there any supoerhero movie that don't need any silliness attached to it is an adaptation of WATCHMEN.

i can see peoples point, i haven't read the book only just started it. but i get the feeling that the comedian and Rorschach are more street level hence the gritter look. where as ozy seems like a poster boy for all thats good in superheros, kinda a punisher/ superman comparison.

would be interested in seeing how they do doc manhatten

also make note of the gut that nite owl is rocking, and how batman-y he is. and i dont like how evil ozymandias looks.

but i literally couldnt breathe when i saw these.

its like i just saw the cloverfield monster IRL

oh my god.

It's a damn near invisible detail. Notice no one pointed out the navel either. People complaining about nipples = people just looking to complain.

If you read the comic, you know from these pictures who the characters are.

I don't know sir. I suppose if he could build a hovering owl ship (some technology that seems a bit to 2009 for the 70's 80's look) Then I suppose that he couldn't build some sort of armor suit thing. It looks like he'll have to hire some kats that can and maybe he has.

and to be an advocate of the new batman films I feel that they have addressed the issue of a real man wearing spandex into battle. (that and the x-men flick)

As A fan of the watchmen I understand 100,000% the whole idea of the spandex suits and all that, but honestly so far I'd have to call Zac's 'vision' of the novel 99.5% accurate and to the source.

Come on the man is doing the pirate story for the dvd...if that's not kick and faithful then I don't know anything anymore.

So what? If I look at a picture from Batman Forever I know who the characters are, it doesn't make the costume designs any less stupid.

I think they should have went with the gold color costume from the book for Ozymandias it plays up his arrogance.

You know what, dude? they're SUPPOSED to look goofy. Thats the whole point, only this time its a humorous exaggeration of traits that superhero movies have had in their costumes (bigtime at batman, obviously)

I just hope Rorshach doesnt get shortchanged because he's not as pretty as the other actors.

^I agree 100% with majik
Quit the nipple b****in' and enjoy some pretty good damn translations... would you all rather Ozy was just wearing a trechncoat and a tiara???
Or have Silk Spectre in Black Leather ala x-men?? or have her in her actual silk costume, which would be even more stripper-ish and ridiculous??
