Audiences loved Norbit...just saying.
Don't forget Paul Blart...they loved that too.
Not everything has to be some kind of epic war, fantasy, comic book drama.
It's okay to watch and like comedies. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Nell...Nell...Nell.
You know damn well that just because I posted Paul Blart does NOT mean I meant comedies in general but that specific one since it was fairly dumb.
Try again.
What it sounds like is because people like something that you deem as "dumb", that they too must be "dumb" and incapable of forming a legitimate opinion.
No, that's you assuming something about me.
I don't think of the GA as being dumb and I especially don't think they are incapable of forming a legitimate opinion(that would be sort of impossible since they're well...human).
I have in the past stood up for the GA when hardcore holier than thou fanboys like to talk mad crap about them because some of my friends as well as family make up that group.
My point was that a lot of the GA aren't as critical about films(not just comic films) as film nerds like myself where I spend a huge amount of time discussing films/movies as most of us do who come to message boards.
Due to a lot of the GA not being as harsh and critical, they will tend to go to films that others like myself, how shall I say, that are a bit pickier and subjective wouldn't waste time on. Mainly because I know it looks a bit dumb but that doesn't mean people who see it are dumb, just that a lot of the GA don't necessarily get picky like some of us film nerds about super quality in films.
Liking movies is partly personal opinion. But in reality there is a standard on a well made movie, what that looks like, and respect because it is well made, even if you don't like it. Hell, I like lots of mediocre made movies...but they could have a really well told story. And I don't like many well made movies, i respect them for being well made. Try not to use words like "ever" "never" and "everyone" because those words just lead to falacies. You can't say something was the "worst movie ever made" or "the best movie ever made"...that's just unwise. You can say something is your favorite...personally and that's fine, even if everyone else in the world hates it.

Paul Blart, Norbit, Larry the Cable Guy whatever, every ______ Movie are stupid, mindless, dumb, and horrible pieces of cinema. I feel bad for the people that watch and enjoy those movies and more importantly fund further research into more bad movies. What it sounds like is because people like something that you deem as "dumb", that they too must be "dumb" and incapable of forming a legitimate opinion.

It was ok.I saw with my girlfriend because let's face it when it came out there wasn't much else to watch.
Hey now, Paul Blart wasn't bad, it was nice clean wholesome entertainment. Sometimes that can be a good thing for families and people who want to see a light hearted film.
I have a few friends who are psyched for Wolverine who are going through some pretty tough times right now. They just want to go out and have a good time - they don't need the weight of the world on their shoulders to watch it.
That's one way to put it. That's not how it was presented a couple days ago in the now locked thread when you were agreeing with japanese writing name guy about how those of us who like movies like X3, or Wolverine, are just lesser minded when it comes to movies, and accept mediocrity.
Yeah, I guess I had trouble finding the right term to use and "guilty pleasure" was a little overboard for some of the films I brought up.
I do have to say I enjoyed the Director's Cut of Daredevil though. Fantastic 4 films, not so much.
I haven't seen the DD DC. The regular Daredevil is okay, but I'm just not huge on the character or the story, really, so I've had little interest in the DC.
The Fantastic 4 movies I don't think are as bad as people make them out to be, but I don't have the desire to sit around watching them. I know Doom is kinda different from the comic books, but I actually kinda like Julian McMahon's portrayal as Doom.
A lot of people gave McMahon crap because of what they did to Doom in the films but it was the script and Director. I also liked him in the FF movies, the problem was watering down one of Marvel's biggest villians and giving him some lame lines and crap motives. That's one of the things I'm looking forward to in Wolverine is Sabretooth. From what people are saying, Liev did a great job.
