Countdown Boycott

Alright Hype, it's Twilight Zone time. Countdown is now good and other DC books suck.

As far as Countdown goes, it's pretty awesome that it ships everyweek-- people like John Cassaday, and Brian Hitch, and Warren Ellis and Millar should be ashamed of themselves not making a monthly schedule when Countdown comes once a week. Also, exploring the multiverese via Jason and Donna and Kyle is awesome. And the sexual tension between them is worthy of other great shows like Sex and the City and 90210. There is so much potential in every issue. Mary Marvel's story is like Dark Phoenix only rewritten for modern times so it's pure win, and it's taking a character that's a nobody and making her a somebody. She's gonna be really big in the DCU soon, so you should all probably find some more of the books where she got repowered and get them graded. And don't get me started on how cool it is to see Darkseid. Even when he does nothing he does something. He is like one of the best villains in comics ever.

What I can't stand is this Green Lantern Sinestro Corps stuff. The Sinestro Corps War 1 shot had pretty art but come on-- am I supposed to believe that Sinestro was left all alone with a whole bunch of yellow power rings? Did no one think to just take them away from him? And where did he get enough rings to challenge the Corps from? Also these guys get their rings and a few days later they are can use them as well as any Lantern? Yeah right. And what's the deal with bringing Superboy Prime back and not have him do anything but sit around? It looks good on a splash page but story wise it doesn't make any sense. I can't believe they needed two use both Green Lantern books to tell this story.

The difference is that despite their lateness on titles, people like John Cassaday, Brian Hitch, Warren Ellis and Millar due exceptional work on these titles. Countdown, obviously, does not.

Maybe the old Monitor's gonna come back and be all like "Dude, WTF?" And whip these wannabe-ass Monitors' asses back to whatever burrow they sprang from.
That'd be cool. Especially if the Monitor actually said "dude, wtf?"

DC  U.

Are you really drawing a comparison between the misadventures of Piper and Trickster to Les Miserables? I really don't think they are even in the same ballpark.
What I was doing is saying that one could easily misrepresent a story as "not moving forward" and one could easily be full of **** about that. All-Star Batman isn't moving forward. Piper and Trickster are moving forward.

Dude, sarcasm. Context.
I believe you if you say that's what it was. I'm rereading it and I can't quite see where the sarcasm would be, or how the context changes anything about it, but I can totally accept that it was sarcasm if you say it was. Apologies.

That'd be cool. Especially if the Monitor actually said "dude, wtf?"
Damn right it would be. Like if he really just was completely disappointed. Like, "Really? Really? That's all you guys could come up with? What the ****, man? No, **** that, you're not worth that many letters: dude, wtf? Seriously, man, I'm ****ing tired of this ****." And then he busts a ****ing Monitor-sized cap in their unMonitorlike asses. And then eats Monarch for breakfast and ****s out the real Captain Atom.

Piper and Trickster are like Kenan and Kel.

Except on of them isn't fat, and they arn't black. And they dont love Orange Soda. So on and so forth. Other than that, yeah they're just like Kenan and Kel

Well thanks for apologizing but you didn't do anything wrong and I wasn't holding a grudge or anything. It wasn't as funny as I hoped it to be, but we get better as we get older right? I was hoping more people would run with, it honestly, and make it better you know?

Since it was "Twilight Zone time" (cue for sarcasm), you should've just assumed whatever I was saying I meant the opposite. Of course I don't think Mary Marvel's story is as good as the Dark Phoenix saga... And while I don't think Sinestro Corps special was perfectly logical, making mountains out mole hills like that was meant to be silly because the story was good.

Phft, that's all cosmetic.

Well color me black and hang me from a tree, that might been racist!

OK, again, I'm taking issue with your choice of comparison. ASBAR is a joke. A high selling, superstar created joke. Countdown is the flagship book of the DCU right now, the central hub from which everything is supposed to flow, and the direct lead-in to the next super mega event, Final Crisis.

Do you see the difference? I love ASBAR...that book just makes me chuckle, and even if it was just bad, it comes out so infrequently that it doesn't matter...I've spent like $20 on it in two years. That's affordable entertainment. Plus, it has no bearing on any continuity.

Countdown comes out EVERY WEEK. How are Piper and Trickster moving forward? Nothing has changed in their story dynamic. They just bounce from wacky situation to crazy mishap. Countdown is almost half over.

Piper and Trickster are moving through the major events of the DCU like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern from Hamlet. It's not that they are moving foward, so much as through.

Leave ASBR alone :csad: Is it a great comic? No every book has to be great. I do however think it is good. I mean, ASBR is about Batman seeing himself through the eyes of Dick. It was so obvious to me that when Batman is talking to the kid in the car, he was really talking to himself. That's not just good writing, that's great writing. Is the pacing off? Yeah. And Issue 3 (All Star Black Canary as I call it) was totally not needed, but I enjoy the series and I love that it is a much more internal take on Batman.

I don't want to see Batman vs the JLA go to waste, I have a feeling it may but I really want Miller to get as much time as he needs to finish the series.

Not that I think you are wrong in having your opinion. ASBR is one of those love/hate/hate things.

Did anyone read the news link that said that Countdown's sales have been declining and that the writers will be changed for more well known faces..and the present writers might loose their jobs.
