Age of Ultron Countdown to the Age of Ultron

And they finally save Black Widow.

Great fight between Red Guardian and Captain America.

Iron Man and Thor finally back on the team for this story. Awesome issue. Was fun seeing the old guard and new guard team-up.

So we start to get some foreboding development on Quicksilver's disdain of humanity. And I think this is the first issue to confirm that thing Scarlet Witch wears on her head is a tiara lel.

Cool seeing Hank dealing with ants again even if it isn't by his own doing. And Quicksilver's hate of humans continues to grow.

Like how Magneto was drawn in this. Very appropriate to have him show up as Quicksilver's hate for humanity is growing. Didn't realize Magneto was in space though lol.

Magneto was taken into space by the Stranger. It was at that moment that the twins defected from the Brotherhood.
I think this issue is the best of the first fifty issues of Avengers. Great effort by Buscema.

Wow he's been in space that long?? It would have been about 3 years since that happened lol.

Magneto was taken into space by the Stranger. He briefly returned for like one issue of X-Men, and is then taken by the Stranger back to his planet. He only escapes the Stranger's world at this point.

Well, Magneto to taking full advantage of his freedom by imprisoning the twins, lol.

Avengers are really in dire straits. Magneto tricked Pietro into thinking humans attacked Wanda, which causes him to leave with Magneto again, Cap quit, Hercules gone, and now Pym realizing all the years of molecular strain on his body means he can't become a 10 foot giant anymore. Couldn't be any worse really, lol. And this is the very first mention of Genovia. Although Magneto didn't call it by name, he said he wants to use the island they were at as a safehaven for mutants.

Great cover! This is the worst defeat the team has suffered so far.

Back to square one with the twins back on Mags' Brotherhood of Evil. Also, they seemed a little TOO close this chapter lol.

Quicksilver sounds a lot like Magneto. And, this kind of confirms the twins are older than the X-Men/not teenagers since he called them pig-headed teenagers.

In future retellings of the old stories, it would be retconned to make Pietro and Wanda teenagers like the X-Men.

Not much, just Cyclops vs. Quicksilver.

You know when they specifically retconned that?

I know that in the Professor Xavier and the X-Men series, Pietro and Wanda are portrayed as being the same age as the X-Men. Professor X approaches them in Transia before Magneto finds them and offers them a place in his school, but they turn him down. In the X-Men First Class series, they are the same age as the X-Men. Wanda has a romance with Angel and hangs out with Marvel Girl.
In the early stories, Wanda and Pietro have no last names because the writers are too lazy to give them one. They don't start being called Maximoff until their adopted father Django Maximoff is introduced. After that, it is retconned to seem as if they were always calling themselves Maximoff.
In Avengers Origins: Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, the twins are clearly portrayed as teenagers at the time they are impressed into the Brotherhood. Also, John Buscema version of her Wanda's costume as of Avengers 75 is retconned backward to her Brotherhood days.

Wow, thanks for the info. You're like a library, lol.

And used the wrong cover, fixed.

This issue is a follow up on the above X-Men issue. Early example of a crossover event I guess. Black Panther has joined the team since the twins left.

After last issue, the twins don't show up in comics again for an entire year, and they don't show up as Avengers for even longer. They went and left with Toad in a ship, to where...I don't know yet. But, this segs perfectly into the introduction of Ultron. In this issue, he's disguised as Crimson Cowl, and implores a new Masters of Evil team to take on the Avengers...although Jarvis is the one really behind everything.

And so we find out Ultron was the Crimson Cowl all along, and just hypnotized Jarvis into thinking he was (or something).

And Ultron returns with the creation of Vision. The way he shows up is really ominous, he's just...there, don't get to see him created or anything.

This is the best issue of the first 100. This issue and issues 1, 4, and 16 are the most relevant of the early part of the series.
Wasp names the Vision. In the first issue, she named the team. These are her two greatest actions so far.
