Just saw this movie today, didn't see a forum on it. Wasn't looking forward to it due to low expectations, but snuck in and surprisingly found out that it was actually really good.

The script is smart, it knows it's a genre film and plays with that. The comedy was laugh out loud throughout the audience. Heard another guy on the way out say he too was pleasently surprised by it. I'm not even a chick flick or romcom kinda guy, but some movies hit home when it has something new and interesting to it.

So, definitely recommend it.

I went into it having a feeling it was going to be good given the cast and the trailers and overall positive reviews. And it was.

The story was engaging and the characters were likable. There were some solid laughs throughout. I must say that the movie reached an entirely different level when the twist was revealed. I let out a very audible, "What?! Oh boy..."

My whole audience pretty much had this reaction to the twist: :wow:

I thought it was enjoyable, but if you do start thinking about it too much, the whole thing falls apart.

Gosling's character was likeable because the actor has charisma, but on paper, he's such the ideal alpha male with the perfect body, wardrobe, and house, that it seems like a Hollywood cliche. And there was just one too many coincidences for the sake of humor that it was pushing it.

So the babysitter had a crush on the father, who became friends with the ladies' man, who ended up dating the father's daughter, who ends up meeting her parents the same day and moment that the father decides to make a grand gesture in the backyard to win the mother back, while the babysitter's father finds the naked pictures she took and angrily drives over to also arrive at the same time of said gesture. Oh, and did I mention the son also had a crush on the babysitter? And the man the mother cheated with also shows up at the exact same time? Funny in execution, but like I said, don't think about it too much.

I happened to watch it with some friends a day or two ago. It wasn't horrible or anything, but I didn't care much for it. A lot of stuff, like the humor and performances, seemed a little flat to me. I guess I was fooled a little too in the beginning, because it looked like it was going to be a little more frank with the subject than the majority of these kinds of Hollywood films, but then just kind of followed into the same ol', same ol'.

I also felt like the whole twist with Stone's and Gosling's character's was really forced to inflict some extra drama that didn't really need to be there outside a reason to keep those actors around until the end. Really, I almost felt they should have cut all of Stone's character (especially with her annoying friend).

But, like I said, not horrible. One of those things that's kind of worth watching once, getting a couple of laughs, but not much more.

Crazy, Stupid, Love aims to cover all the bases of in the game of love and relationships.
Divorce, crushes, infatuation, expectations and finding "the one" that you can open up to and love.

Steve Carell is terrific as Cal Weaver a husband and father thrown for a loop when his wife Emily (Julianne Moore) asks for a divorce. It is Carell's most watchable and soulfull performances since The 40 year old Virgin.
Ryan Gosling is great as the rich and womanizing Jacob Palmer who takes pity on Cal and thinks all Cal needs is a makeover, and to sleep with more women. There is a look that
Gosling gives Carrell during the makeover sequence that is just gold!!!
Emma Stone as Hannah is quite good , a woman that enters Jacob's life that may make him re-consider his womanizing.I would have like to have seen more of their developing relationship on screen than off.
I liked the fact that the film displays how a long term relationship cant be washed away by sex or infidelity the love is still there ,but can it be the same?,can you get back to when you first fell in love .....who knows?
I cant leave out Cal's 13-year-old son Robbie (Jonah Bobo) who is in love with his 17-year-old babysitter, Jessica Riley (Analeigh Tipton) his display of affection for her is so open and honest its quite funny.Marisa Tomei and Kevin Bacon's roles are brief but memorable.
I could have done without two weak sitcom like moments that took me out of the film
and it almost ruins the good groove and mood of the film.
Still those flaws are minor and i definitely saw myself in some of the characters.
This is one of the best and honest films about relationships i have ever seen .A nice summer treat.
Scale of 1-10 an 8½
