Critics' Reviews: Discussion

Good to know that Variety and Hollywood Reporter didn't buy into this crap.

They both gave their solid reviews on it which all made sense. Everything else is gravy now. I can't see many more positive reviews coming in for this film. It'll probably stay rotten around the low 40's if its lucky enough.

... or if FOX pays for enough positive reviews.

I have seen the movie today.

Why the Twentieth Century Fox will never understand the real Marvel Universe ?
The movie is just... bad. So bad. A few scenes are great, but this is incredible how they "kill"/change some characters of Marvel.

And, for those who have seen the film too :
Don't you think "Deadpool"'s death looks like Darth Maul's Death ? :woot:

there are only 18 reviews...we have no idea where it would end up at.
I think once it hits a certain number of reviews, the RT rating doesn't change much after that. I'm not sure where that number is though, could be 25 or could be 50.

Wow, I knew it would drop low, but holy *****

Although it can obviously change quickly, it'll be hard for the film to dramatically change for the better after it's dropped so much. Probably not going to get past the high 50's at this stage realistically

Most films end up with around 200+ reviews. We have 20 so far. We won't know where it will end up for a week or two.

Well, here's a positive review from the locals here, but it's interesting to see where she is coming from. If she prefers lighter, less pretentious fare without thought to accurate comic book mythos, you know why.

While I appreciate the optimism, I do seriously think now is a decent reflection of where it's going to settle for the most part

Last prediction: about 56%. It deserves in the 60s range, but such is life

And I wish we didn't have to wait so long to get an idea what the critical masses thought of this film. A pox on the embargo

From the ComicBookResource review

The number of characters necessitates the film have a road-movie format. Logan goes from location to location, meeting odd and interesting characters, including Ma and Pa Kent.

Down to 43% on RT now...not looking good for Wolverine.

Just gone up to 44%. OMG ISN'T THIS EXCITING! :D

Personally I don't really care about the opinion of James whoever who writes for whichever newspaper. Obviously good reviews are preferred but i'm not going to let other opinions (good or bad) affect what I think when I eventually see it. What critics think is only one factor that defines whether a movie was a hit or not.

The average rating... which I think is more important, is 5.2/10

Why would anyone care what "Dufus MaGee" from "Movie gaga.org" thinks about a film? Even local newspapers only employee cranky wannabes. Jaded critics and their opinions are laughable regarding most genres. Given the fact that it's a meager "comic book" film, critics are always weary to give high marks. Iron Man and TDK were trendy to praise but comic book bias is still strong. At 95% or 5%, who really cares?

On IMDB it currently has a rating of 7.1 from 6500+ votes, compared to the 20 people who has reviewed it so far on RT.

There are a lot of numbers and rating so it's hard to get an overall picture. Plus the movie hasn't even been released everywhere yet.

The IMDB rating won't be that low. If X3 is 7.0/10 this will above 6.0/10. It might even top X3 and X1.

I think the IMDB rating will be a better rating to see the overall impression of the film (even though a lot of people either vote 1 or 10). Bringing statistics into this, a sample of thousands is usually better than a sample of hundreds.

Rotten Tomatoes T-Meter on Wolverine currently at 41% with 27 reviews

Well Fox could have told their people to sign up and give a score. A 7/10 is still not very good when this movie could have been a 9/10 or better:o

How about IM and TDK being good movies? How were they trendy to praise:huh: If this movie were fantastic, it would get good reviews...not that hard to comprehend and no reason to find reasons why you think those critics are dumb. If you like this movie, then that is great. Calling people who didn't like it names is wrong.

Not dumb, just jaded.

IM & TDK being good movies and widely popular takes the pressure off. You don't have to be pricipled or take a stand to praise them.

BTW- your avatar hurts my eyes. Geez.

I expected these kind of reviews. It's a shame too, as this could easily have been better had they changed a few things about it from a structure standpoint. Too much deus ex machina in the movie.

My remedy for fixing the X-Men series...forgo doing X-Men films. Stop making them for a long while. Instead, start a television show on FOX. I think X-Men's episodic nature and many big plotlines can have whole seasons based around it and be the next phenomenon on TV like Heroes was before disappointing follow up seasons.
