The above headline kind of makes our heads hurt a little. Just a little. Two questions beckon ... Why remake a remake? and If you're going to remake a remake, who better than the director of the original remake to remake his own remake into a brand new remake? Okay. I'm gonna need some Advil, stat!

According to THR's Risky Biz Blog, "David Cronenberg is returning to The Fly. The auteur will develop a reboot of the 1986 classic with Fox, the studio that released that film, directing and potentially writing the new pic. The move marks an about-face for the Canadian director, who in the past has said he did not want to be involved on a remake of the film.

I still haven't seen the original remake.

Lol:woot:.

A great remake IMO.

What's next? De Palma remaking his remake of Scarface?

If this does happen I would like to see a woman play the crazy scientist who turns herself into a fly.

wtf is this ****?

I guess it could be in worse hands, but... what's the point? Did Cronenberg not like his own film?

Oh my God, this is taking the whole remake thing way to far. It's a good film and all, but seriously?

Dude, Where have you been? They are remaking everything .

Will Jeff Goldblum be returning? I loved the original remake & its sequel. The only reason to remake it is to update everything with cgi although a lot of stuff could still be done practical. I hope the fly will at least get to fly this time around.

David Cronenberg is pulling a Haneke, like someone wrote at CHUD

whait a minute. time out.

they are remaking a remake? and the guy who did the first remake will now remake hes own remake? is he insane or what?

I hate this idea. Hate it. Cronenberg did his Fly. It's time to move on and give someone else a chance.

This feels unnecessary. It'd be fine it were a sequel to his original film, but they're calling it a reboot, what the f**k? To me, the word reboot means 'milk', taking something that's earned its dues and shaking it down for whatever they can get. The Fly is one of the best films of the eighties in my opinion, it's both scary and touching. Jeff Goldblum's performance as Seth Brundle is one of (it not the) best performances of his career. Why remake this?

He's David Cronenberg. I know you don't know who he is, but trust me when I say that he can pretty much do what he wants and it will probably turn out amazing.

Cronenberg is doing it? I'm on board. Anyone else I would be pretty "meh" about, but if he's coming back, hell yes!

As far as this bi.tching about remakes deal with Horror film's, it's a 20 year old film, people! I can understand some complaints on select films, but give me a break. You are complaining about all these remakes, but it's been a Horror film staple for 90 years!

God, I'm getting so tired of this crap.

As long as Cronenberg is making it, it should be great. I just still find it odd that he would want to remake it again. Maybe the first remake didn't turn out like he wanted as great as it is.

David Cronenberg is returning to The Fly

Maybe they're making a film version of the opera.

...

It sounds...alright, i guess. I don't see the point in it though. Cronenberg's original is probably one the best horror films ever made. Why he'd want to remake his own film is beyond me, despite how good it'll be.

And someone said something about doing it again to use CGI. The original(Cronenberg film) used all practical effects and there was NOTHING fake looking about anything in that movie.
