CW doesn't want "Smallville" or "Supernatural" to end just yet

Yes she does but everyone knows if you say something is dead casual viewers won't bother watching until the last episode to see how it turns out

Of course not. That's their bread and butter. Once they're gone what's left on the CW?

Well no show over 3.0 million viewers for scripted shows that is. Maybe they can live on a bit more with crap top model/other crummy reality shows since folks like watching those things all the time.

as much as I love Smallville, I really hope they decide to end it on the 10th season... The show is about him becoming Superman... Unless they decide to continue the series with Tom Welling in the red and blue suit and change the name of the show to "Superman" <_<

I'm glad to hear it might stick around. I am enjoying watching them build this alternate version of the DC universe and how ultimately when all is said and done, it all revolves around Superman.

I agree i know alot of folks dont like the show, but looking at it right now its the most successful superman property going and yea things are different. But they are drawing from different eras/incarnations and then throwing their spin on things. But yea a 10th season is likely going to be the end and i would be happen for that. I just hope when ever its the end we get a very good closing episode and for it to be 2hrs long.

What date does the new seasons start for each show? Are they still on back to back or what?

No supernatural is thursdays still at 9pm and starting up on sept 10th, but smallville if u havent been watching reruns/heard of the schedule change is moving to friday's. In smallville's place is that stupid new vampire diaries show at 8pm thursdays. Smallville will be anchoring friday's at 8pm with reruns of other shows at 9pm and is starting up sept 25th.

Can you say "Friday Night Death Slot"!? The CW did the same thing with SmackDown! and Everybody Hates Chris. I'm willing to bet that Dawn Ostroff banished Smallville to Fridays since she clearly doesn't support or champion it (and why should she since it originated as a WB show) from the jump. And that vampire show is obviously CW's attempt at jumping on the recent vampire craze created by Twilight and True Blood

She does support it to a degree but we know she has said the network for her is females 18-35 demo which is stupid to cater to just one demo. But the CW/dawn has stated as long as the show stays at or above its average 3.0 million viewers they will be happy. And we all know the CW isnt in the best shape and smallville is their only scripted show that has or is above 3.0 million viewers and if smallville ends the network likely wont survive much longer.

But we dont know how things will go untill the new season starts up. And the producers have stated in interviews the network wouldnt just up and cancel them out of the blue and even if the rating deep a bit we are going to see the full season anyway. Their is one plus side being on the CW they dont have to try and be 8-10million viewers to stay alive. And if the show keeps its viewers and i dont see why it wont everything is good.

And looking at most shows that are on fridays around smallville time its one of the law and orders, ulgy betty, ghost whisperer, and smackdown and out of those shows only smackdown is in smallville's target demo. So we know GH/l&O/UB will probably be the top 3 shows during the night with 8-10 million viewers. Then smallville/smackdown going for 4th-5th place with 1-4 million viewers.

So really we just have to wait to season starts up and see after 3-5 episodes on the ratings are fairing for the show, and if stays at its average viewership or not. Plus we have to remember the show has moved a few times already in its history so this move isnt anything to sneeze about right now. First it was tues at 9, wensdays at 8, then thursdays at 8. Plus even when it was on those nights it still was going head to head with heavy hitters like american idol, survivor, etc.... type shows and look its still around.

Doesn't matter what Dawn thinks of this show, if the ratings are between 2-3 million, she will renew it yet again.

That is true like i was saying its been said as long as the show keeps its average viewership it will be good.

Not diggin this move to Friday nights.

I was kind of happy that these shows where coming to an end.

I LOVE Supernatural but I don't want it dragging on-and-on-and-on for the sake of ratings.

The story right now is working well and seems to have an ending.

Smallville could have ended years ago and has at times REALLY dragged on, recently its picked up in a good way, but I don't want it to carry on for 2-3 more years.

Last season should have been Smallville's last

Well we know the producers have said they do want to go to 10 and 10 would be where they would like it to end. But yea when ever its revealed to be the end, lets hope they have a good wrap up to the series.

If they were to do a 10th Season I have no idea who the big bad they could get to end it all. We already had Lex Luthor Brainic Zod Metallo (This season) Doomsday. The Only person that can pose a big threat in a Season is Darkseid. I could be wrong though

Well i could see darkseid working out, heck if they could have done a full monster suit doomsday this past year i think darkseid wouldnt be to hard to pull off. What i would do is we get hits of darkseid during the season, and throw in some of his minions like granny goodness w/female furies, dasaad, kalibak during the season to test the kryptonian they learn about on earth. Then either mid season we see him in body, and then again in like last 3 episodes or something.

Okay, then why move the show to Fridays, which is a night that stigmatized as a TV graveyard?

Well yea i know many say its been on to long but hey i like it when a show lasts for a good long while and i think their is still more they could do with the show. But the thing is we have no clue if it will be done this year or not. Its all up to the cw and how ratings are going.

if they didnt want it to end then i really dont understand the reasoning behind moving it to Friday. Wasnt Thursday's their most highest rated days in the history of that channel and those two shows? okay maybe im making this up but i remember hearing that the ratings for the two shows were very very high this past season. I dont understand the logic behind moving it, youd think companies would be dying for the tv commercial spots with their old Thursday lineup. Instead they kick out smallville to throw in their lame Twilight copycat show.
