I'm an enormous Cyclops fan. I love the character, in all his forms, and I absolutely love James Marsden's portrayal of him in the movies.
People, face reality for a minute. The "Cyclops we deserve" resides in the X-Men comic books. And two animated series. He has not shown up in the movies, though glimpses of him have definitely been seen here and there. It appears Cyclops will indeed perish in X3 after some strong scenes.
If you're smart, or mature, you'll begin the process of getting over it and manage to enjoy what promises to be an interesting movie. If not, you can be miserable: your choice. You ask, if I love Cyclops so much, why am I not angry at his death? Because I love the concept of the X-Men. And the movie features: Xavier, Wolverine, Storm, Beast, Angel, Colossus, Iceman, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Magneto, Phoenix, Mystique, Juggernaut, Callisto, Pyro, Multiple Man...etc.
She is Fire and Death incarnate!
Pretty sure she is "life incarnate". Not death. At least she was originally.
Only Jean should kill the Phoenix. That was her moment of great heroism.
And letting herself be killed by a friend isn't heroic?
Except for some reason in the movie Wolverine is stronger then Phoenix....

Uh, maybe she LETS him kill her because he reaches her humanity. Duh.
To be 100% honest... Jean seemed to be the main character in X2. I liked that very much. All in all Wolverine only had a few more minutes of screen time than her, barely more at all. I loved it.
You need to watch X2 again. Wolverine had a lot more time than Jean did.
X3 is not based on Jean. It is a complete Wolverine film.
Actually, it's not. Ten bucks Magneto gets more story impact than Wolverine does. Wolverine "saves the day" in X3, by all accounts. But Storm "saved the day" in X2. Was X2 a Storm film?
Nope. Its been said by 3 different people who have already seen the film that she does **** all. She just stands around observing and then gets killed by Wolverine.
Yeah. I believe that. Regardless, that is not what's been said by reviewers. We know she kills several people, and takes the military apart.
They had him for a month. Ian McKellen shot his scenes for X2 in a couple of weeks.
The McKellan thing is a rumor that was later proven to be false.
HOW DOES HE SURVIVE HER TRYING TO KILL HIM?
Because she obviously doesn't truly want him dead.
I dont mean to be snobby or brag but.... I could write a better script for X3 than these fools. They pissed off all the X-fans. In my X3, Phoenix would kick major ass, Cyclops would live, Wolverine would have less screentime but not less than any other character. Xavier would die, but very tastefully. Rogue would be believed to take the cure but then join in the final battle and we find out she decided not to. From there, Rogue would absorb juggernauts powers permanently gaining super strength and Cyclops/Angel would show up for the final battle where Phoenix would kill hundreds of mutant/soldiers with a single glance.
Put your talent where your mouth is. Let's see this script. You have...say...three months. Hell, let's see a SCENE from it.

Cyclops as one of the Horsemen? That wouldn't be interesting.
I can't wait to see WOLVERINE spinoff.
And hopefully, but I don't know how, they can bring cyclops and them back.
