Cyclops fans we lost, my 2 cents

we did lose, and there is nothing we can do. we can voice our opinion but it really will not anything but if you want to say something about cyclops:

i have submitted nothing but questions directed to james.. or questions directed to famke or brett about cyclops .. n these are real questions, i dont want try to come off as flamish to them .

OK i dont post alot, but i've been following this hole thing since word of his death leaked. I was not a big fan of the character nor do i read the comics just liked the movies & the 90s cartoon, but when i heard that they was actually going to kill him & so early in the movie i couldnt belive it. I thought surely they would change this after the fan backlash, hell who didnt, but thats not going to happen. If they had to kill him, it shouldve been at the end & when jean dies. But anyway yes fox screwed up, they couldve waited & made a really great movie but they didnt. Now i will not go see the movie, will it matter..............no. But i wont waste my money to see this great screw up. I hope the movie fails but it wont. If one good thing has come out of this for me its made me like the character more & im thinking about gettin some tpbs .Now this is just my opinion & wether it matters are not, i just felt like saying somthing. At least everyone tried to get their voices heard.

This is exactly what alot of us were worried about when this film was announced and pushed to be released this May. They worked on this film for maybe what....4 months? Finding a director was a big problem.....if the negative review are accurrate then our fears about this film being rushed out were warranted. All because of the greedy egomaniac Avi Arad......man I can't stand that guy!

all your complaints are valid when it comes to the Phoenix/Scott/Logan.....drama......it seems they have truely screwed it up by killing Cyclops?? In the beginning?? By accident????

Crazy.....but this is exactly what happens when egomaniacs like Avi Arad have to much power when it coems to these Marvel based films.....and decide to just want to make a fast buck...over bringing some QUALITY to not just X:3...but to the whole Marvel film slate.

I'm an enormous Cyclops fan. I love the character, in all his forms, and I absolutely love James Marsden's portrayal of him in the movies.

People, face reality for a minute. The "Cyclops we deserve" resides in the X-Men comic books. And two animated series. He has not shown up in the movies, though glimpses of him have definitely been seen here and there. It appears Cyclops will indeed perish in X3 after some strong scenes.

If you're smart, or mature, you'll begin the process of getting over it and manage to enjoy what promises to be an interesting movie. If not, you can be miserable: your choice. You ask, if I love Cyclops so much, why am I not angry at his death? Because I love the concept of the X-Men. And the movie features: Xavier, Wolverine, Storm, Beast, Angel, Colossus, Iceman, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Magneto, Phoenix, Mystique, Juggernaut, Callisto, Pyro, Multiple Man...etc.



Pretty sure she is "life incarnate". Not death. At least she was originally.



And letting herself be killed by a friend isn't heroic?

You need to watch X2 again. Wolverine had a lot more time than Jean did.



Actually, it's not. Ten bucks Magneto gets more story impact than Wolverine does. Wolverine "saves the day" in X3, by all accounts. But Storm "saved the day" in X2. Was X2 a Storm film?



Yeah. I believe that. Regardless, that is not what's been said by reviewers. We know she kills several people, and takes the military apart.



The McKellan thing is a rumor that was later proven to be false.

But in all honesty I don't give a damn either way because I know the movie will be awesome! If he is dead than hip hip hooray! If hes not, than I have to put up with him for one more film.....either way the story will be great!

Just stop getting so pissed about it, veiw the movie as a "what if"! i mean isn't that realy all it is??? I mean you already have the comics which are completely different, and the movies are a completely different interpretation of them! I mean come on guys, so they kill of Cyclops, BIG DEAL! Rogue and Mystique have NO relation, Storm aperntly faked an African accent and got caught, Sabretooth was dumb as dirt, Kitty aperent has shapeshifting abilities (played by three differnt people!!!!!!!!!!!) along with laundry list of things from the first two movies alone!!! If the 3rd one is as good as it looks, than it will surpas all of the others by leaps and bounds, so stop *****ing, buy your tickets, and admit that you were ****ing wrong the moment the credits hit the screen!!!

Maybe we need a thread not about Cyclops alone, but about the way all the characters suffer due to the overexposure of Wolverine.

But this thread is less about Cyclops himself and more about Cyclops fans and how we always get screwed over.

I agree. Even though I am not a diehard Cyclops fan, I must admit
that the X-Men trilogy did him no justice and I feel for those that are
fans of Cyclops not getting his due. It simply made no sense for Fox
to give Wolverine this much exposure when they were going to eventually give him his own solo project.

Cyclops isn't the first character to suffer from this, characters such
as Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth were also misused for the trilogy and other characters were given alot more screen time than necessary, such as Storm, Pyro, Mystique and Rogue to name a few.

If killing Cyclops is necessary than atleast have him go out more
heroically , especially considering that he is the X-Men's field leader,
and by the simple fact that he barely appeared in X2. Cyclops would have been great in the conclusion of X3, fighting with the team and
optic blasting foes. So much lost potential for his character.
