Okay,

In "X-Men" it looked red. Bright red or so. And it was wonderful.

In "X2" it looked kinda pinkish-red with white light in the middle? I'm talking about the sequence in which Cyclops hits Lady Deathstrike. Am I right?

In "Origins" it was red again. And it worked a lot.

In "Apocalypse", it looked pinkish-red-white again, as "X2". What the hell?

Looks pretty much a similar pinkish hue outlined in red in pretty much all the films to me, especially coming from his visor. It seems to be slightly darker and redder in darker sequences.

The more white in the beam's field, the more he's opening up at full power, it seems.

As long as it’s shown as a beam of force and not really hot, I’m good.

X3 didn't have it be so pink. I recall the red coming back.

On a team with telepaths, it's relatively useless. He has to see his target.

Xavier and Jean Grey can feel out their targets with their thoughts...a much longer range of effectiveness.

My problem is that they don’t really know how to make it look cool and have Scott use his visor to do shoot it out in unique ways while fighting. They need to go play an x-men video game to learn how to spice Scott’s fighting style up and make him a bada$$ boyscout.

And in the comics, it always seemed more destructive than the show's have made it..

My issue with this is that it only works if he can see his target...ie very short ranged weapon.

Jean Grey, Professor X and Emma Frost can reach over a wide distance, especially with Cerebro.

Yeah, the games were way more creative. But I believe there's two times you see Scott's visor come off once in X1 and once in X2 and it's pretty lethal and wide ranging. There'd be lots of stuff in between the uncontrolled blast and the fine beam to develop.

And X-Men could do neater stuff on the technology aspect in general. Beast and Forge could both find amazing ways to enhance and improve on the team member's abilities, it shouldn't just stop with Cerebro. Black Panther set a high standard for technology in a CBM/action film, the comicbook X-Men are highly dependent on gear and tech too.

And hey, there's always Whedon's Scott. In the comics, Emma Frost temporarily blocked out his powers by playing mind games with him, which allowed Scott to spend some time without his visor on. But it she practically left him broken for a bit. Great stuff.

What's your point here? People have different powers, that's how it 'works'.
You must have major issues with melee characters!

I could see visor facilitating a longer, wider range. In legends I, the optic sweep knocks opponents off their feet with adjustable range (if you level up). And why not curved beams, flat beams, blinding beams, smaller stunning beams? The games are full of weird stuff. Heck, the old Scott in All New XMen has some really crazy-looking stuff going on.

NOW, I'm not saying they should just add all this stuff (or any of it) for the heck of it!!!

It's just cool things that have been with the characters' powers before. And I haven't read nearly enough to call myself a hardcore fan yet, but there are other creative ideas in the comics, for instance with Rogue. Rogue has been controlling her skin problem and she's storing powers and using them at will (see the all female run of X-Men). That's a very motivating message for fans who saw her taking the cure in X3 and I'd like to see that on the big screen some day.

Hey guys, I need a screenshot:

The close shot of Cyclops's face while he's firing his beam to Lady Deathstrike. I wanna see the beam on that...

I think the best sound effect for his beam is X2.

As someone else said: So what?

Cyclops' beam has far greater reach than Wolverine's claws. Mystique can't attack from a distance either.

The films have made very little effort to be creative with Cyclops' powers. The beam can be used in many ways.

Yes! His beam has been used far more creatively in the comics. Pulsed bursts to slow Wolverine's descent, a wide sweep to knock people off their feet, etc.

One of the coolest things in the films was in Origins where Deadpool's decapitated head sliced through the reactor as it span round.

Don't you have a DVD of X2 to watch the film?

I needed a screenshot. That's it.

Thanks, Avenging Angel.

However, I was totally mistaken. It was pinkish-white in the original trilogy too. Geez, that's so weird, I always perceived it as red.

I'm a bit disappointed now.

I can't believe it. Even the visual effect for Cyclops was better with Singer's babies. :funny:

Look at those raw, uncontrolled waves coming out of his eyes at that train station. First effin' appearance! The effect post-X2 should only be feasible through the visor.

Last night I rewatched all Cyclops' battle scenes from Origins (Tim Pockock), X1, X2 and Apocalypse.

Well, it looks like it's pretty much "established" that the force energy of the cinematic Cyclops is supposed to be RED with a CENTRAL WHITE "SECTION", and thus the red is looking a bit pink-ish because of the white section in the middle of the beam.
With or without the special visor, it looks like that's the exact colour of the optical beams of the cinematic Cyclops. Red/pink with the middle white.

What do you think about it?
